ok moms....travel system or car seat and seperate stroller?

I was wondering what is best a travel system with the car seat and stroller or a serperate stroller and car seat and just put them from carseat to stroller?

  • I know a lot of people hate travel systems, but my Graco Quattro tour travel system with the Snugride carseat is great! It isn't too heavy, easy to fold up, fits in my Civic trunk, and overall is very comfy for my DD (at least it looks like it!) I personally think that moving them from a car seat to a stroller especially as an infant would be a pain, usually my DD falls asleep in her car seat, so I can keep her sleeping and still put her in the stroller.

  • I love our travel system (Chicco). For me, it's invaluable to have the infant  seat/carrier.

  • Car seat and Snap N Go, it's so much eaiser to lug around, the travel systems are way too bulky and heavy.

  • Baby Jogger City Mini + carseat adaptor + Graco Snugride (or other infant seat of your choice) = way better than any travel system.

I *love* the BJCM. It's light, has an insanely easy fold, and isn't nearly as plastic-y and bulky as the travel systems. The only negative is that it doesn't have a huge basket under the seat.

i feel the exact same way about my travel system!! it's so convenient and DS always fall asleep in his car seat so it would be a real pain and upsetting to him to have to take him out and move him to a stroller

  • I have a snap and go and a Chicco car seat. I love how I can lift the snap n go with one hand and be off and running. I got a seperate light weight stroller for walks around the block when the weather is nicer.

  • I say both.

We have the chicco travel system and a snap n go. We have the big stroller in DH vehicle and I have the snap n go in mine. The travel system really isn't that big of a pain to me. The car seat snaps right into it. The travel system takes up more trunk space but not that much, my DH has a big suv. HTH!

  • I love our travel system!  We have a Graco easy glide system from Target (Little Hoot) and I am loving it!  Its great to have the base in the car and the stroller is SOOO easy moving!!  (We have rolled through slush, ice, snow, the gravel they throw on ice and of course the regular floors of stores plus the carpet they put in them.)

The only downside to my system was that it took a while to get the hang of releasing the catch that holds carseat to base/stroller...Good thing I practiced at home before she got here!

I AGREE!!! We also have the Graco Travel System with the Snugride carseat and it has been amazing!! I love the fact that I can take him from the car to the carseat without having to unstrap him and restrap him in the stroller.  And it is nice that they go together even if you don't to always use them together, you at least get the option.  Our stroller is big but it fits in our Pontiac G6 but we also have an SUV because in our car the stroller would take up most of the trunk.  I am pro travel system.  Good luck with your decision!

  • I know there are some who aren't huge fans of travel systems because they are bulky, but I LOVE mine. We have the Chicco Cortina and I have no complaints. It has great reviews and so far it's worked perfectly for us. Good luck!
  • I love my Chicco Cortina TS.  It fits beautifully in my trunk (I have a VW Jetta) with plenty of space let if I go shopping.  It's so easy to control and I love that I can leave my DS in the infant seat going from house to car to stroller.

. This...I LOVE my Chicco travel system. It's so simple to use and everything snaps in/out with one snap/click. I have the Miro Yellow pattern which is so fun :)
  • I actually took my travel system back because people had said they didn't like them because they were too bulky. We both drive Jeeps, so there is not a whole lot of room in the back seat.

I went with the Graco Snugride Car seat https://www.amazon.com/Graco-SnugRide-Infant-Seat-BroadStreet/dp/B001P81GW2/ref=pd_bxgy_ba_text_b

    with an extra base https://www.amazon.com/Graco-SnugRide-Infant-Seat-Silver/dp/B00007DWBH/ref=pd_bxgy_ba_text_b

and I'm getting a stroller frame that it fits right into https://www.amazon.com/Graco-SnugRide-Infant-Seat-Silver/dp/B00007DWBH/ref=pd_bxgy_ba_text_b the stroller frame is foldable and supposed to be lightweight.

and then there is a swing that it fits into.  https://www.amazon.com/Graco-SnugRider-Infant-Stroller-Frame/dp/B0007KMUH4/ref=pd_bxgy_ba_text_b

  • I like our travel system.  The stroller is pretty good quality, and my older child still uses it.  WHen she outgrows it, we'll still be able to use it for DS.

If you think you'll use the big stroller, it's a worthwhile investment.  But if you do a lot of "offroading" with your stroller (walking in grass, over gravel, etc), then invest in something designed for that instead.  But for everyday use on pavement and in stores, the stroller is great.

  • We have a carseat with a snap n go type frame.  (snugride with teh graco frame).

We are waiting to buy a regular stroller until we are sure what we want. What you think sounds great before the baby arrives isn't always what you want once you have the baby!   At the moment, our regular stroller will be a Maclaren.  Much lighter than a travel system stroller but still reclines etc etc.
