Has anyone made deep fried oreos?

We have a deep fryer, but I'm not sure what the coating is that you dip the oreo in first is made of.

Can anyone help?

  • sounds awesome...What about chocolate covered oreos?

  • That makes me want to throw up.

I imagine it's some type of batter.  Bisquick?  Ew.

  • 1.  why would anyone do that to a perfectly innocent and tasty oreo?

    2. I imagine it's something like tempura batter

  • Is there a special occasion that you are making all these goodies for, or is your pregnancy cravings starting to hit you?  Smile

I would imagine you would use a sweet batter...maybe pancake batter or something like that?

  • lol. They are actually really good. Especially with a big tall glass of cold milk.

  • This post just upset me, in a weird way. I LOVE deep fried oreos, people think it sounds gross but they have no idea. Its pretty much a sweeter version of an oreo. I think people hear "deep fried" and they think onion rings, but they are nothing like that. I used to live by a place that had them and they were perfect ,now I am very far away and would love to know how they made them.

  • Actually, I just had these at the fair a few months ago and they were sooooo good!!

But it's not bisquick type coating, it's funnel cake. And you can buy funnel cake mix at the grocery store. Bisquick or pancake type mix is too thick and it wouldn't work the same.

I imagine it's found in the baking aisle with the rest of the cake mixes?

Katie - my birthday is Sunday and I'm just trying to think of something to make that everyone will like...lol. As for the cookie suckers (I'm making those for Preston's preschool class for Valentine's Day). Plus, I do have a sweet tooth (now that I know I passed my glucose test....YEAH!).

I'm 90% sure (cake mix aisle). I know I've seen it a million and one times though I've never actually bought it. It should be easy to spot though b/c I know some brand(s) have a pic of a funnel cake on the front.

  • Oh, and when I had them at the fair, they sprinkled powdered sugar on them as soon as they came out - just like with a regular funnel cake. Oh crap I'm so hungry now!
