I called BCBS about enrolling in Baby Yourself. The state employees insurance board has chosen not to participate. They offer access to a maternity management program through a 3rd party company, but only allow high risk patients with a letter from their doctor.
Maybe it's just me, but couldn't a program like Baby Yourself help prevent some women from becoming a high risk patient? I know not all cases are preventable, but providing women with a wealth of knowledge might allow them to better notice symptoms or changes that would make them high risk.
Re: S/O: Baby Yourself
I agree. These days it seems like companies are providing more and encouraging employees to get involved in preventative care programs. Government jobs usually have such great benefits, I can't believe the State doesn't participate.
As an aside, what do you do for the State or what department? Just curious. My sister-in-law is starting a job for the State on Monday.
I'm an IT Tech for ADECA. DH is a web developer for DHR.
That's crazy that they don't offer Baby Yourself! The average return on investment for preventative care programs is $3 - $5 per $1 spent, and, as someone who works in employee benefits, I can tell you that having Baby Yourself in your plan does not raise premiums very much at all!
Is the program offered to you through your EAP?
