Bottle Question - (boys are 7mos)

Hi Ladies,  I've been using Dr. Brown's bottles for the boys since birth but honestly, I'm getting fed up with washing the parts every day and would love to switch to bottles that don't contain inserts.  I'd like bottles that are BPA free, non-drip (if that's even possible) & have a fast nipple.  Any suggestions are appreciated.  Thanks :-)

  • honestly- as much as you hate them- i wouldn't switch now since you've only got a couple more months until you switch to sippy cups.

if you do change- i wouldn't buy  many.

we use the MAM bottles, which I love. they have an air vent system- but not too many parts, and don't leak like Avent.

  • Good call, Goldie.  I am so over these bottles, but will probably just keep on using them.  No need to waste $ if I'm going to be switching soon.  Thanks!

  • Unless you're on a really tight budget, I would get some of the Gerber Clear View BPA free bottles. They are really cheap and do come with fast-flow (or medium or slow-flow) nipples. Just buy a three-pack to start with to see if your boys will drink out of them. My boys drank bottles through 1 year; to me, 5 months' worth of less hassle and cleaning would be worth the $10 it would cost to buy three 3-packs of ClearViews.

  • I felt the same way about that age.  I switched to the cheap Gerber ones.  They are BPA free and work just fine and are nice and light for them to hold themselves.  Afterward I wondered why on earth I spent so months cleaning all those parts in the Dr. Browns!

  • If you decide to stay with Dr Brown's - have you tried using the baskets you can put in the dishwasher?  We keep the baskets on top of the counter and rinse and sort the parts in them and then run the dishwasher every day (or every other day)

Here is a picture of the early days (4 oz bottles - we now use 8 oz) but you can see the baskets.  We stand the insert tube into the basket so they stay upright to get washed.
