Hi ladies. Hope you don't mind me picking your brain for a moment.
Dh and I are looking into, and most likely, adopting embryo's first, before we move on to DA. A requirement of embryo adoption is a homestudy. The agency I'm leaning toward working with is not located in our state, however will still work with us. I, however, have NO CLUE about how to get the homestudy rolling. Any suggestion of who I can call to get that part of the process rolling, as our agency can't help us as we're out-of-state?
Thanks!
~Kristen
Re: Homestudy ??
I posted a lot of links maybe 2 months on the donor embryo topic. I would imagine the information is buried at this point. I'll see if I can find it.
Maybe you can call local agencies and ask them if they would specifically do an homestudy even if you are not a client. Most I talked to in my area were willing to do a home study even if you were not using their agency for adoption. The fees may be higher, though, because you are not using any other service.
You could also check if there is a Bethany Christian agency in your area as they have a donor embyro program. Ask if they would do your homestudy if using another agency.
I looked and don't see my post from a few months ago.
Resolve.org is offering free teleseminars on embryo donation/adoption pretty soon. https://www.resolve.org/site/PageServer?pagename=lrn_do_emb
Hi Kristen!!
When we went to our first meeting, 2 of the couples there were not actually using the agency for the adoption; they were just using the agency for the homestudy. I would pick a couple agencies and give them a call. I'm sure many of them will do this.
