When your DH is sick...

Do you coddle him?  I have a (newly-married) FB friend who is talking about how she hasn't slept at all b/c she has a sick hubby, she's been feeding him toast, took the day off of work, etc.  She listed his symptoms, and it sounds like a cold--not even a fever. LOL

When my DH is sick (like a cold--nothing serious like his kidney stones), I tell him to suck it up or he'll milk it for all it's worth.  DH thinks I'm a meanie...  Help settle our debate. :p

  • Oh, how cute to be newlyweds!  I used to be all perfect wife, but now that I'm a mom I too, tell him to sack up!!  I'll make him soup or something, but DS usually takes priority...I'm a meanie too!

  • Unless he has a very high fever, I tell him to suck it up and deal with it.  He certainly doesn't coddle me!
  • I'm somewhere in the middle. I make sure he gets lots of attention but I don't lose any sleep over it. And take the day off work? For a cold? Bahahahahahaha!

This!  I would never take the day off work, but I did do a lot for him when he was sick.  He did a lot for me too.  Now that DS is here, we both pretty much have to suck it up!

  • How funny. No babying here. I guess that makes me a meanie too!
  • Coddle him? No. Do some extra things for him that might help him feel better? Yes.

He's not the kind to milk those sorts of things, which means that I'm more than willing to go out of my way for him b/c I know he truly feels crappy. He does the same for me.

If he was the moany-groany type, I'd have way less sympathy. :)

  • He used to get significantly more sympathy when we were dating, but once I was going to bring him soup and found out he was at his friend's house, outside playing basketball (in January!) So I don't baby him too much anymore, lol. I figure if he can play basketball while sick, he can get his own soup, too.
  • If he's really actually sick, I do a lot for him... buy him sprite, make him toast, soup, and get him a cool wash cloth for his head if he wants it, ect.

DH has called off before when I had the stomach bug and was vomiting all night... I would have been a zombie caring for Jack the next day and I'm so glad he did that for me!

Yeah, I get that--caring for a baby is impossible when you're sick.

    But...they have no kids. ;p
