High-Risk Pregnancy

Failed the 1 hour :(

Just got the call that I have to do the 3 hour.  I'm not going to freak out yet, because the nurse said that, in her experience, 70% of people pass the 3 hour.  Just sucks that I have to go through that.  I'm going to stay positive though because I don't think that anyone on bed rest should also have to watch their diet and prick their fingers several times per day!  Hats off to you ladies that do!!

Re: Failed the 1 hour :(

  • I agree.  That would just be evil to be on Bed Rest and have tons of diet restrictions!

GL!  I'm rooting for a happy 3 hour result!

  • I also failed my 1 hour, but I did pass my 3 hour.  It was actually close on the 3 hour, so I may have some issues, and if I stay pregnant they'll want to test me again, but in the meantime I can continue to eat regularly and not test.

It is true that most people pass the 3 hour.  How close were you on the 1 hour?

  • I failed my 1-hour test, too.  Boohoo!  I do the 3-hour test on Friday.  I am really not looking forward to it.  I read in my PG book that only 15% of women who fail the 1-hour also fail the 3-hour, so the odds are on our side.  Good luck!

Yeah, the nurse told me chances are in our favor too.  I'm not worried so much about the results turning out bad with the 3 hour, but it's a pain to have to go to the doctor's office and be there for 3 hours for the test.  Plus it's just another potential "issue" in my pregnancy.  Boo!

That's what the nurse told me.  So, I'm not sure what the actual statistics are.  She just told me to not worry about it too much.

I'm not sure what my number actually was.  She called with that result and with my protein results from my 24 hour urine test.  The protein levels were pretty low, so I was more focused on being excited about that and forgot to ask about the glucose number.  She said "a little high" so I guess that means that it wasn't too bad.  I didn't know I was supposed to take the 1 hour that day, so I drank a huge glass of apple juice before my appointment.  I truly believe that the apple juice was the culprit!
