If you bathe with your baby...

what is your routine? I was debating trying a bath since DS loves bath time.  Do you even end up washing yourself off or just kind of hang out in there and wash LO?  Do they ever take explosive poops while in the tub?  I think I'll hold off on a shower until both hubby and I can be in there since I'm worried about DS getting too slippery!

Re: If you bathe with your baby...

  • I bathe with our DS every other night. I bring in the bouncy seat lay one of our towels in it and one of his in it. Set him in it while i wash myself up and then bring him in. Now if DH is home he will just bring him into the tub. But i still have the seat in there set up like that so when it's time to get out I set him in it while I dry off and get dressed again. He has not pooped in the tub yet.. DS loves bath time now though. He likes it when he can lay back in the tub and kick his feet it's so cute.

  • We just hang out. I don't even try to wash myself off, just her. She hasn't pooped yet, knock on wood.

  • I don't wash myself, just DD. She likes it ok, but she LOVES the shower. I think the water on her back is like a massage Smile. I was worried the first time I showered with her but now I'm fine with it.
  • I've only experienced one poop in the tub, but I just drained the water and put in new water.  Now I watch more carefully for any grunting or other signs!

  • I fill the tub up like 2-3in and get in. I put a towel down which I sit on then have LO between my legs sitting indian style so he leans on my legs without moving about. I just bathe him though. No poops yet, only pee which I just drained then refilled the tub.

The hair, for some reason, is the only thing I find difficult to wash. He doesn't mind bathing as long as he stays warm- I usually have the shower curtain drawn closed to keep it warm- but hates having his hair washed. I use the Johnson & Johnson head to toe.

  • Emily loves to kick and hang out in the tub.  She received bright colored animal tub toys for Christmas and we put a couple in with us and she loves to watch them float around.  I find it relaxing for both of us.  She hates her baby tub if it has water in it, but loves to hang out in it otherwise, so I have it next to the tub, get her naked and set her in it.  Once I am situated in tub, I pick her up and when we're done, I set her back in her baby tub so I can quickly dry off and then get her dry, diapered, lotioned and dressed.  I only wash her.  So far she's never pooped in the tub, but I'm sure that day is coming.
  • I generally do it when DH is home (easier).  I put a towel in the dryer, get a diaper in the bathroom to put on in the bathroom once we're done in the tub.  I get in the tub and have a little bit of mommy relaxing time, then call DH in with DD.  DD LOVES the bath.  We bring her in, shampoo her head, use the washcloth on her body, just float for a little while.  Then DH will dry her off, put on the diaper, and get her dressed while I drain the tub and take a shower.  GL!

  • I want to do this but my daughter poo'ed in the tub today so I'm a little nervous about holding her in the shower.  We'll see how her next few baths go.
