Had my MFM appt today after being in the hospital for a few days last week due to PTL. My cervix is still just as long as it was before (3.8cm - yay!) but is also still a fingertip dilated. The babies are looking good, although I'm more uncomfortable b/c Baby C's head is wedged up in my ribs on the right. No wonder I've had pain there! I'll be seen weekly from now on, and my next growth scan is in 2 weeks. yay!
the only problem with these frequent appts is that they are totally exhausting and involve more moving around than I probably should do for being on strict bedrest. The high-risk clinic was really behind today and I had to wait 2 hours for my appt!! that has never happened before. I had to spend the whole afternoon in bed and take my procardia early just to recover. ugh.
Re: update on me and my cervix
Yay for your cervix still being long. 1cm dilated also isn't a big deal. I had multiple doctors telling me that 1cm is nothing to them as long as you still have good length to your cervix.
Sorry about baby C's head in your ribs, but I totally understand. Our girl has her head all up in my cervix and it is SO uncomfortable, especially when I try to get up. Hopefully she's able to move soon and give you some relief.
I was only carrying 2 and I remember how tiring those appts were - just getting dressed enough to be presentable sometimes really took the wind out of my sails.
Let the front desk know you're on bedrest and if it's going to be a wait longer than 15 min, they can probably put you in a room where you can lay down.
good luck
I'm glad your cervix is still long, that is great! I know how tiring those dr appointments could be. Your doing a great job! I know how hard strict bedrest is. Its all worth it in the end.
I started using a wheelchair for appts a few weeks ago - it really helps! My dr. is at a big hospital so there's always someone there who can wheel me to the office.
I would also probably look into asking about the wait times, and whether there's somewhere you can lie down if the wait will be more than a certain amount of time. Especially since you're contracting more after appointments, and that's just going to get worse as you get farther along...and everyone wants those babies to stay in for quite awhile longer!
Yay for your supercervix.
