3rd Trimester

Irritable uterus

I have been going weekly to the dr. to be checked for preterm labor. I had to go today, he said 4 more weeks of tests (ffn & internals) and then no more internals until 37 weeks (thank God!). Today I was doubled over in pain and DH dropped DD off at my MIL's & went to work. At least this happened just an hour & a half prior to my dr.'s appointment. I told him everything and now he thinks I have an irritable uterus.

Anyone else been told they have this? I didn't go through this with DD.

Re: Irritable uterus

  • I got a lot of BH earlier on and my OB told me I just had an irritated uterus. She never really made a big deal though or made me come in. I just figured my uterus took after its owner Stick out tongue

  • I am irritable with my uterus.  Does that count?

Seriously though, I have heard of this.  Hope somebody can answer your question.

LOL, you made me chuckle! I'm irritated with mine too! Apparently it's just as sick of me.

  • Um, that would be me.  I started having BH at 17 weeks, no biggie since they were sporadic. Yesterday I worked a 12 hr shift and came home and had 10 BH in an hour.  Had an appointment today and that got me put on work restrictions (no more than 8 hours per shift) and weekly progesterone injections until 37 weeks.  Sucks!! I was told I shouldn't be having more than 4 BH an hour.  Hopefully the progesterone kicks in quickly and they can lift my work restrictions.

  • Yes, that is the term my doctor used with me.  I am on modified bedrest to reduce contaction.  When my doctor first told me I chuckled - I thought it was the baby being anxious to arrive, but no, its just my irritable uterus..

same here. so i'm stuck at home. i start having contractions when i'm up for too long or doing something physical. its a pain in the butt.

  • i have IU too.  if i called every time i had too many BH, i would be there every other day.  i'm not saying this is right or others should do the same.  i just feel like i know what's normal for my body now and why i sometimes have too many (need more fluids, usually).  it's probably going to confuse me in the end though, b/c i won't be paying as much attention to when i should really go in.  good luck.  lots of fluids and call your doc if you feel like something is not right.
