Hi everyone I new to this board. Everything has gone great with my pregnancy up until now. I appreciate that a lot of the women here have gone through hell but if anyone has gone through anything similar right now I am really looking for info/experiences. I am about 33.5 weeks now and have been hospitalized twice in the past two weeks for shortening cervix, 50% effaced, baby is at 1+ station with contractions, cramping, etc. They got the contractions to slow down and I got the steroid injections to speed up the baby's lungs maturity but they told me when I left yesterday that they won't do anything after I hit 34 weeks later this week to stop the labor next time. I am really hoping to make it much farther along but I don't know how much I can control it? I am on bedrest and guzzling major water. Still having pelvic pain, cramping but only irregular contractions. Is anyone going through/have gone through this? Or know how well babies born at 34 weeks really do? I am just a nervous wreck, thank you to anyone who can give me any insight. The doctors just don't have many answers for me right now...
Re: New/Advice Needed- PTL at 33 weeks
just wanted to send some T&P. Sadly, i have no suggestions. I am being monitored every 2 weeks for shrinky cervix.
I wish you lots of luck on getting to 4 more weeks. i think you and the LO will make it!
My water broke at 34 weeks and they didn't stop the labor because, as I was told my several nurses and doctors in L&D, 34 weekers do great. My daugther was born at 34w1d and is now a perfectly happy, healthy 2yo. She spent 13 days in the NICU because she needed to learn to eat (the suck/swallow/breath reflex often isn't present that young). Surprise, surprise - the girl is still a pain to feed! Not because of any health issues, she's just picky!
If it makes you feel better, I am currently 35w pregnant with #2. Last week (at 34w 2d) my peri said that, while his preference would be that I can hold out until at least 36w, he wouldn't be a bit concerned about the health of the baby whenever I delivered.
