Issues with contacts while pregnant?

So, lately I feel like my contacts are really dry and dirty and that I can't really focus all that well.

I know they aren't dirty as I wear daily lenses and put in a new pair every morning.

This started around the time I found out I was pregnant and has just gotten worse. Is it possible that this is pregnancy related or is the timing just coincidence?

totally normal...your eyesight may change, and I know mine always felt dry. I used a lot of the rewetting drops while pg.

Could be pg related, I think there is extra mucous. Also might just be the winter? I know mine get really dry due to the forced dry heat. I use drops a lot, esp. at night.

I didn't have this issue but I read about it and was prepared for it to happen. Your vision can change during pregnancy and contact wearers seem to have more issues then others with dry eyes.

Pregnancy can definitely cause issues with dry eyes, and it can also cause your corneas to change size a bit. I didn't have issues, but people warned me that I could.

It is totally normal for your eyes to change when pregnant I think due to the hormonal changes. I also wear contacts and I found that I could not see and focus as well either. I was always turning on more lights because the house seemed dark. Many people also have more discomfort wearing their contacts but luckily I did not have that problem.

I'm pretty sure this is normal. I also experienced the same thing with certain types of BCP, and there is a warning on the pills that says it can cause problems for contact lens wearers. I believe it is related to estrogen levels.

I don't wear contacts but had horrible vision issues during first tri. They have gotten better for me, but still have them from time to time. I was getting nauseous when reading, print and especially the computer screen were very fuzzy and out of focus.

It's the pregnancy hormones. I just read about this last night in one of my books. Vision begins to get alittle blurry and contacts alittle uncomfortable around month 3 until after birth.

I'm a contact wearer and having similar issues.

I had the same problem. My eye dr. told me he never changes anything with a pregnant or nursing womsn's contacts because their eyes change like that and then can go back to normal after you are done being pregnant.

Totally normal. Happened to me as well. Your eyesight can get worse during pregnancy too.

It's normal for your eyesight and the shape of your eyes to change during pregnancy. I had to stop wearing my contacts and go back to my glasses pretty early in the 1st Tri.

Totally normal. I need to get my eyes checked (I'm overdue and pretty vigilant because I have thinning on one of my retinas) but I don't think it's necessarily worth it while pregnant. My eyes have been itching a bit more.

My mom's vision actually got better (and stayed better! Lucky!) while she was pregnant with me.

I have worn my glasses this entire pregnancy and did for most of my first. My eyes were always dry and my vision did change a bit. I would get headaches from my contacts. Very normal.
