3rd Trimester

Dr appt update...disappointed...T&P

So a few weeks ago I went in and discovered I had low amniotic fluid (10). After a week of resting and chugging water, last week it was up (12). I just got back from my Dr. appt and it is way down (7). I go back on Monday for evaluation and if it gets lower they are going to put me on bed rest.

They are also concerned about the placenta. Right now they said it's grade 2, "not quite grade 3"..scares me that it's this close to grade 3 and I will only be 33 weeks tomorrow.

Generally I am just scared and want everything to stay stable. I am disappointed that the fluid is not back up despite my chugging so much water each day but more than that I am just worried about LO.

T&P would be great!!

  • I'm in the same boat as you except when I went in my fluid was at a 6, after a week of bedrest and drinking as much water as I can it went up to 11.5.  I'm still on bedrest and going in weekly for NST.  Lots of T&P for you!
  • How did you know your fluid was low?  Meaning, did you have any signs or anything?

I sometimes wonder how people find these things out

  • Hang in there!  My doc told me last week that 32 wks is a HUGE milestone.  If the baby is delivered from that point on there won't be any lasting side effects.  Baby won't go home w/ you but baby will be OK.  Follow your doctor's orders.  T&P's!!

Well, I wasn't feeling the baby move like I thought I should. This was at 29w. They brought me in for an NST and the results were fine. At my 30w appt I said things still didn't feel "right" so they ordered a u/s and biophysical profile. Well as it turns out baby was in a weird position and that's why I couldn't feel the kicks like I used to, but they also discovered that my fluid was low (they measure that as part of the BPP). So, it was discovered on "accident". They also saw potential probs w/the placental then too.

  • Good luck with your next appts. Thinking of you...

    Ditto.

  • I had the same issue with my fluids. I went in for an ultrasound and at the time I was only at a level 8. They also mentioned how thin and tiny my LO was, and how small her stomach was measuring, they thought something was wrong with my placenta and she wasnt getting what she needed from it. I was told to stay off my feet as much as possible and drink til I couldnt drink anymore.

In the mean time I had a trip to L&D and they found out I had a little infection BV and that causes low birth weight and premature labor, they gave me some antibiotics and I was off.

I went in for my follow up and my fluids were up to a 12 and she was measuring back on track, weight wise and her stomach was measuring right on track, turns out the infection was the reason for her being tiny.

Just rest as much as you can and drink plenty of fluids! All will work out just fine! good luck!

I just happened to have an ultrasound where they measured it and that's how I found out it was low.  I'm high risk because of a previous surgery & loss so I have more frequent ultrasounds.
