Babies: 9 - 12 Months

ON sizing - 6 to 12?

I just ordered a bunch of stuff from ON because LO is growing out of the 3-6 size.   I was a little surprised to see that sizing went from 6-12 rather than 6-9 months.  Is this normal sizing and I'm just being an ignorant first-timer?

Anyone know from experience if 6-12 runs a little small?

  • It is normal sizing.

  • It's normal.  I've found though that ON clothing shrinks after you wash it.  I wash all dd's clothes with cold water and hang them to dry but notice they tend to shrink a little more than other brands so keep that in mind.

Of course that's just my experience with it.

  • Gap has this sizing too.  So far, I've found it to be pretty true to size, maybe a little on the small side.

P is almost 10 months, ~18lbs, and ~26".  ON 6-12's still fit her, but are starting to get snug.  Gap 6-12's still fit fine.

  • ON stuff runs big on DD, but she is tiny though. I found Gymboree goes to 6-12 too.

  • Not all brands go from 6-9 and 9-12. Gymboree also goes from 6-12. It's kind of annoying, but I will admit ON clothes fit my daughter the best when she was done with 3-6. 6-9 clothes often get too short on very quickly.

  • Normal sizing...the 6-12 mo. size is still really roomy on my 20 lb. almost 8 mo. old. Gap 6-12 mo. fits the same way on him: they both seem to run big for us.

  • I agree, I think 9-12 would be more appropriate but my take on it is I think babies tend to "level out" (not grow as fast) once they start to move more so maybe 6-12 is just a general size for that time range? Obviously this wouldn't apply to all kids but I'd say it applies to most.

My DD fits well in most 6-12 but I've found the Gap 6-12 runs big, in our case.

  • I find that the 6-12 pants were short on him my 9-10 mos, although at that point they finally fit well in the waist.  I have a tall boy, a little on the skinny side.

  • ON runs true in separates for B, but the one piece rompers are always small/short on him...

I have not tried any 6-12 items yet.  but my guess is for us that will serve as 6-9.
