Baby names. I know there is a board for this but they just bashed the crap out of my names. I wanted to hear honest but gentle opinions from girls I trust. :]
Landon Carter or Landon Michael for a boy. IDK which one I like better.
and..
Brynlee' Naomi for a girl. (yes the accent mark is supposed to be there)
They told me my little girl would be made fun of in school, would resent me for naming her that, and would never get a good job or get accepted into a good college with that name. Is that true?
OH! They also told me the "y" looks tacky and makes me look dumb.
Re: Very off topic.
I love Landon Carter (favorite character from my favorite chick flick!)
The Y in them though, I don't care for, to be honest.
I like the look of Brynlee' but how do you pronounce it?
Bryn like you are saying Brenda and then Lee. :]
And I know. I just LOVE A Walk to Remember. That's where I got the idea from. LOL
"OH! They also told me the "y" looks tacky and makes me look dumb."
WTF?
Have you SEEN some of the names on these boards??? I have seen people make comments about their idea of crappy names... then you go look at their LO's name and it's some off the wall EFFed up name.
I think the names are cute... I wouldn't personally go with Landon Michael unless you were doing that to intentionally name your kid after the actor Michael Landon. And The Brynlee name is cute without the accent mark. I DO think the accent mark would make things difficult at times but I don't think your kid would be made fun of OR not get jobs and stuff. That's just dumb.
I was about to scratch the girl name all together and start over, although that's the name I've had in mind since day one. It was the boy name I had troubles with.
Who is Michael Landon? They said something about that but I've never heard of him.
nvm. I googled it.
Yeah I thought that was a little harsh too. My mom got plenty of scholarships and never got made fun of for her e'. My cousin Rene' is a corporate manager and my cousin Tiffanee' is a nurse. I didn't think it was as horrible as they said it was.
Some very famous people have strange names, these few come to mind:
Cokie Roberts
Condolezza Rice
Tipper Gore
It's a name, would it be a name I choose no, but she will do with her name what she will.
LOL! I just wanted to make sure I wasn't wack-o by naming my child that. I think I'm pretty set on the girl name. It's the middle name for the boy that has me scratching my head.
Any suggestions? Landon ? I'm not set on a middle name. I just like the first. :]
Oh dear.
Lol oh okayy!
If it's a boy, def. Landon Carter
!
If a girl, Amanda Lynn hahha kidding!
Not a fan of the accent mark, but I like the name brynlee. Love the boy names!
sorry, but i'm not a fan of either of them. But I am also not naming YOUR child. If you love it, use it. If you don't, find something else. Who cares what other people think. . .

I think they are pretty wack-o. If you ask for advice, take it. Switching to another board and asking for sympathy when you were the one who posted for advice is ridiculous.

I love Landon for a boy, and either middle name would work.
I think they were a little harsh about the girl's name. Although it's NMS, I really doubt that it will affect her ability to get a job or get into a good college. Actually now, the more I say it, I think it does sound pretty. But I don't know about the spelling, I think people will mispronounce it a lot and she will constantly have to spell it out for people. I'm a big fan of using the most common spelling.
Sure does. Makes a lot of sense. :]
I cannot believe a mother would name her child this! Of course I went to school with a boy named Shithead... pronounced shi-thed. Yeah the subs always got his name wrong. It was sad.
I like Landon Carter of the two choice, Landon Michael makes me think of Little House on the Praire.
Your girls name, honestly, looks like something a High School student would call her Home Ec. project. Sorry. I think it's a pretty name when spelled correctly.

Tell those b*tches to bite it. I've seen some of the names they post. I go there when I'm bored.
Can I just point out that I am SO proud of you ladies for not feeding the TROLLS!
Can I tell you how funny it is that you are calling me a troll? The idea that an honest response to a question = troll-like behavior is, um, silly.

This. BGG posts occasionally over here and is a regular over on BOTB.
I think I'm going to go with it. To hell with what everyone thinks, right? Thank you ladies. :] Y'all are great!
I like the current spelling you have in the OP. I looked over at the post on baby names and it was spelled differently (Landyn Karter). I think that's why you got the reaction that you did. Its a running joke over there to see who puts a Y in place of a vowel, and you did just that.
BTW, to Ladyaylena- BostonGayGirl is a regular, not a troll, and she calls em like she sees em. No sugar coating, and sometimes we all need that.
I didn't like that spelling to begin with to be honest. I was told if I'm going to name him Landon that I had to put a "y" in the name. (X's brother was a Jayson. He passed away a while back.) But you know what I say? To hell with what he says. He doesn't call to check up on the baby anyways. Why the F would I give him his way on a spelling, or even a name. LOL.
I told Db that if he wanted to weigh in on the baby's name, then he needed to step up and be involved in the pg. (I was high risk and had to be at the dr and the peri every week from 20 weeks on.) If not, he doesn't get an opinion. I chose the baby's first name and I let Pumpkin choose his middle name, Jackson Lee. My ex didn't like either one of those names, but I didn't care one bit.
Good for you! :] And I totally agree. No involvment=no say so.
