To lurk or not to lurk...

Ok, so I am (apparently) new to this--aka NEWBIE, and I was just reading different posts and have come to the conclusion that I am "lurking". I assumed that this was what to do but after reading other posts I am begining to wonder what the etiquette is.

I surely do appreciate any help and hope that I didnt offend anyone if I lurked. Embarrassed

    Er. No. Not offended by lurking. That's the idea. And how can we be offended by lurking. When you lurk, no one knows you're there.

    You can't offend by lurking.  Lurking is what you are supposed to do.  It means to read read read and reread posts in order to get a feel for the board and also to find answers to your questions without asking them.  Am I missing anything, ladies?

    Lurking is reading what others have wrote on various posts. Pick up abbreviations, what not to say, the over all feeling of the board, etc. You're doing great so far.

    Lurk!  Read posts, learn the board, participate in the general posts and do an intro so we can get to know you.  Look back a few pages, google and do your own research before asking a million questions.  We get the same questions over and over again, so a little reading and research really helps you.  Then post.

    Welcome! Lurking is just checking out the boards and not posting. I started out by lurking and then posting responses to other posts. Youll be fine!

    When I lurked I looked back on over 5 pages of posts. I picked out ones that looked like they could answer some questions. And looked at some of the newbie introductions. I botched mine when my formatting went wacky. However, if you fix and such they are really really nice :)

    I am glad someone started a post that I could sneak in a reply too. I have been lurking for a while and started feeling that I had crossed the line from learning to being voyeuristic but was too intimidated to post. Now,  that I have actually posted I feel a little less creepy!
