We put it together before I went to the doctor... it took like 10 minutes tops -- just had to pop the wheels in, pop on the sun visors and remove 2 little pieces so I could pop in the 2nd seat. So easy to put together!
the 2nd seat is the same size as the first (unlike some of the other strollers that allow a 2nd seat to be added on which have smaller 2nd seats). both seats do a full recline- so can be used with 2 infants (unlike the Phil & Teds that can only have one infant) and you don't need the bassinets - though, those are always nice with infants ![]()
The sun canopies are WONDERFUL - the best coverage of any of my strollers - i LOVE them (from what I know, this is a BJ trait that people love... including me! I have some pale children!)
The seats snap on and off SO easily -- so it's super easy to change the direction they go in, or remove them. You do need to remove the 2nd seat to have it fold up all the way. You can fold it with both seats on- it's just a LOT bigger that way -and doesn't really make sense to do... but since it's so easy to pop the seat off = no big deal to me.
the handle bar raises up really high - I'm 5'8" and actually think that at the highest setting it was too high for me --- I think a tall man would like the height for the handle bar.
The storage is pretty big, but with the seats in certain arrangements, access is somewhat limited- and if you have the bottom seat facing towards you- that child can reach into the storage (which could be a good thing for an older child who likes to keep his toys nearby).... but this is what you give up to have a double in the footprint of a single- very similar to the Phil & teds I used to have (though, the CS storage is much bigger than the P&T)
The brake is on the handle bar- which i LOVE because I hate fiddling with breaks with my feet- esp when i'm wearing flip flops. This will be a nice change for me.
the fold is very easy - you do need both hands - but it's one step - and the frame folds quite small with one seat or none on it.
I have to laugh that they wrote "do not hang bags from the handle bar" on the top of the sunshades --- I did read somewhere that it wasn't "allowed" - my guess is that it can tip if only one baby is in the top seat and your bag is super heavy.... I have had a few of my strollers tip b/c my bag is heavy- so I will be sure to take the top seat baby out first --- but I do plan to hang my bag there
That's their attorneys writing that on there - to avoid any lawsuits... which i understand.
It seems to drive really nice- but i only drove it around the livingroom
it's a LOT shorter than the Kolcraft Contours - which is very similar in a lot of ways - though the BJCS is just nicer all around -better quality, etc- and of course, more expensive.... though, I still think the KC is a fantastic stroller for the money! The only issue I have with the KC is that it's so long- it's hard to turn around things, into doorways with a turn, etc. Makes shopping with them in smaller stores hard - and using my SBS Combi is impossible in some stores where they clothing racks are so close together. I think this is going to be great for that!
My boys are past the infant seat snap in stage & bassinet stage - so I won't have any reviews of those options.
I can't think of much else right now... obviously i haven't had time to really use it - hoping maybe tomorrow I can get the babies out in it for a short walk if the weather is OK.
If by chance you have missed all the chatter about this awesome stroller - here it is... just released this month by Baby Jogger. https://www.babyjogger.com/city_select_lp.aspx
Re: Review of City Select Stroller
Thanks for the review!
I'll just quickly add to it that I have the stroller and currently have our two EvenFlo carseats attached to it. Looks like it will work great, but still waiting for babies to arrive before we can actually use it.
I'm a total stroller whore - i have owned 11 strollers total (some singles, some doubles). It's a disease
When I saw this one I knew I had to have it! I sold 3 of my strollers to justify buying this one! (i wasn't using them anyway so it's a win-win)
I'm going to take some photos tomorrow with the boys in it - maybe a video - i'll get more review info to you ladies very soon
