I just got a call from my clinic scheduling a 6-day transfer for Thrusday. As of yesterday (day 3) all 8 of my embryos were slow growers and not looking so hot, which I'm assuming is why we are being pushed down. They haven't looked at them yet today (because they don't like to disturb them), but I'm hoping they'll peek at them tomorrow and by some miracle we'll have a blast or two...
Have any of you girls done or heard of a 6-day transfer?
Re: IVF'ers, anyone had a 6-day transfer?
they are more rare, but some on here have had 4day and 6day...most probably don't post anymore though.
Why won't they do 5day if the 3day ones don't look so hot?
I had a FET which was technical day 6 since the blasts were frozen on day day 6, i believe.
That's exaclty what I was wondering, but I'm asuming they want them to be at the blast stage before transfering them, and since mine are slow they probably won't make it until day 6 (if they even make it at all?) Who knows, I'll send an email to my nurse and ask! Thanks!
My RE's philosophy is pretty much the exact opposite of yours.
They believe that if they're not doing well the uterus is the best incubator and they get them back in there ASAP. We even discussed a 2 day transfer with me only having 3 eggs retrieved but they decided they wanted to push to 3 days in order to attempt assisted hatching.
They only do 5 day when they've got a whole crop of super good candidates and need more time to single out the best of the best because they can't choose by day 3 which look strongest.
We knew going in there was no way we'd make it to a 5 day because I wouldn't have enough eggs.
I hope that by day 6 you've got a couple of clear front runners that are good to go!
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.
I'm catching up on the posts so I'm not sure if you will see this, but I had a 6-day transfer. Our embryos were still growing, but not quite blasts on day 5 so they moved us to day 6. I admit it completely freaked me out even though my RE had said long ahead of time that they sometimes do 6-day transfers. However, it worked for us and hopefully it will work for you! Good Luck!
