PIP: My acupuncture battle scars...

Because someone was asking about fireball herbs she glues to my belly. Each circle is about the size of a pencil eraser head and represents a blister/scab/scar. Please forgive the super sexy underwear/pants lines - this was a quick office bathroom shot.

I've never gotten past the first tri and already pregnancy has ruined my belly for binkinis.

  • Ouch!  Are those going to be permanent scars?  I would not be okay with that.

Also, dang girl, your ring is GORGEOUS!

"A baby will be worth it. This is nothing compared to labor...a baby will be worth it. This is nothing..." This is seriously my mantra during the 20 seconds or so that it's really uncomfortable.

My DH veeeery sarcastically refers to it as my 'happy trail'

And yes, it's very normal and they do fade (during my short preg. she didn't put any on my belly and the spots faded... not sure the really bad ones will ever fully go away.

It's called Moxa. Imagine that attached to your skin with a sticker and then the grey-ish top part is lit on fire and then kinda smolders down like an inscence stick.

PS - and thanks. I love it but I secretly still think my bff deserves more credit for picking out the ring that DH.

  • Ouch!!!

What is this supposed to help with?

  • Hmmm...

I'm curious because I'm considering trying acupuncture (a good friend swears by it and lots of you ladies do it, too).

What is the Moxa supposed to do?

  • Wow, your acupuncture chick really is hardcore!

    Ouch!!!

What is this supposed to help with?

    According to Dr. Wikki:

Practitioners use moxa to warm regions and acupuncture points with the intention of stimulating circulation through the points and inducing a smoother flow of blood and qi. Research, for example at Mugwort (Encyclopedia of Alternative Medicine by Clare Hanrahan) has shown that mugwort acts as an emmenagogue, meaning that it stimulates blood-flow in the pelvic area and uterus. It is claimed that moxibustion militates against cold and dampness in the body and can serve to turn.

Tons of fireballs around my belly especially post m/c to help stimulate detoxifying, cleaning out the bad blood, stimulating blood flow to the region, etc.

I know - it all sounds like such a bunch of hooey but last mc (without acup.) it took 8 weeks to get AF. This mc (with acup.) it took only 3.5 weeks. Maybe it's totally the placebo effect but that effect really works so why the hell not.

Doesn't sound like hooey to me - I don't think people would attest to it so often if there wasn't something to it.

    Thanks for the info!
