WDYT?

I know, I hate the what would you do questions.  Either way I'm calling the nurse, but I want to know what you think.

I have really bad pubic symphysis dyfunction.  The ligaments between my hip bones are rubber and the bone you would think is your hip bone is actually 8 bones fused together.  Well, mine are falling apart.  My Dr knows this and it really had nothing to do with my uterus or cervix.  I just have a very hard time walking.  I had a less severe case when I was pregnant with DD, so its not all that new to me.

But, now my vag feels swollen and is sore this morning (all the time: sitting, walking, etc).  We haven't had sex in a week.  My mind is thinking the worst (that my cervix has shortened to nothing).  Or am I swollen and sore because of all the growth going on?

I am a private patient at my peri's office and the percentage of private patients there is low.  So I'm sure I will have to deal with them telling me to call my OB instead, but I don't have one.  I have heard from others that this happens there although my peri urged me to call him no matter what.  They open at 9, so I have a few minutes and then I will call.

I hate calling for nothing.  But, what if it isnt 'nothing'?  Any advice? Experience?

Re: WDYT?

  • I'm not sure what it means to be a "private patient" but you are paying this man to take care of you, so just call. It's not nothing. In a triplet pregnancy, you CANNOT be too careful.

Hang in there, I hope it's nothing more than the PSD, but yow, that sounds horrible. :(

  • Thanks pea-kay :)

It means I don't have an OB, so I have no one else to call.  I just left a message with the nurses and hope to hear back soon.

  • Ah, I see. Yeah, I just had an MFM too. Anyway, I hope there's something they can do. A friend of mine is pg with twins (but is a few weeks further along) and is having trouble with that too. :(

  • Its weird, I am worried there is something wrong, but I'm also worried that I'm overreacting.  I talked to the nurse and thankfully she told me I have every right to be concerned.  So I feel better with the overreacting part.  My Dr. isn't in yet but will be soon and she left a note on his desk to call me.

  • I'm glad you talked to the nurse and I hope your doc calls back soon.  I was a private patient at the same place as you Amy and they never treated me any different -- they always saw me if I needed to come in for a check so never worry with them, they are awesome.

I hope you get some answers.  I know when I had horrible pubic pain my MFM had me take Motrin for a while and it helped, I didn't take it for long but it was nice to get a short break.  From your description your pain is much worse than anything I had so I'm really sorry -- it's horrible.

Keep us updated and as always rest as much as possible!

  • Thanks Robyn!  I'm glad they are treating me well with this because one of our local nesties didn't have such a great experience as a private patient though she had a different Dr than me.  My dr mentioned doing small doses of motrin to fix it, but he said its a short term fix for 3rd tri moms and that he didn't want me to do that this early.

  • I'm glad he thinks it is just due to growth, but sorry you are experiencing this pain so early. It sounds awful! :(

Also, I agree with pp's that you can't be too careful. That is the one big lesson that this board taught me about multiples pregnancies - things change fast and it is best to be overly careful! I'm normally the type of person that wouldn't go to the doctor unless I felt like death, but during pregnancy I learned to change that. :)

  • Your doc is awesome -- he delivered my twins and I absolutely loved him.  Don't worry, he will not hesistate to answer your questions -- you and your trio are high priority!!!!!!!!!!

I hope your appointment goes well tomorrow, keep us posted Smile
