Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

unrelated to baby- I always feel tired and nothing is medically wrong!

anyone have any advice for me. I have taked lots of blood tests and everything is normal. Basically, after dd was born i had severe insomnia- i was sleeping 2 hours a night for a few months. i started taking melatonin and things got better with my sleeping. fast forward to the future: i now take valerian root for the past couple of months and take ditropan( b/c i get constant urges to pee). i take all of this around 930/10 and am usually sleeping by 1130. i then sleep about 7 hours with maybe one wakeup to go to the bathroom. i should be very functionable on this but i am always exhausted!! i dont know what to do anymore! i think maybe the valerian root is staying in my system but i am afraid to stop b/c i wont sleep. i usually get energy at like 8 pm for no reason at all and the valerian root helps me sleep. i have also given up caffeine since my dd was born b/c of my insomnia. any suggestions? i think about this all the time b/c i dont understand why i am so tired!! i have been sleeping much better the last 2 months or so with between 6.5-7.5 hour of sleep

  • I am the exact same way. I have no clue why I am so tired. I typically take my naps with DD. The past three nights, I have averaged 3 hours, which is atypical. Usually, I get about 7-8 hours per night. Regardless, I am still extremely exhausted.

  • Try working out, a brisk walk, jogging.  I notice that when I stop working out I am just drained.  Working out, puts life back into me!

  • It could be that 7 hours isn't enough for you anymore.  Or you're not getting "good" sleep for that amount of time.

Or your diet could be playing a large role.  Are you eating too many carbs?  Not enough fruits and veggies?  Maybe you need to adjust when during the day you're eating certain things, if you find yourself getting tired midday, late afternoon, etc.

It might not hurt to talk to a nutritionist.

  • unfortunately i dont think it is my diet since i have a very clean diet. i am overall a very healthy person and stick to eating healthy. i also take spin class 4-5 times a week too so i dont think it is the exercise either. thanks for the advice!
