Diaper stink Hell!

Okay so I have tried a zillion different laundry detergents, and they work great for the first couple of washes and now- not so much.

I have had to bleach my BG's(3.0) way too often to get the stink out.  And now that I have a new born- DS's BG's are causing DD's diapers to smell as well.  So I'm getting frustrated with doing two different loads of diapers.   The smell isn't just ammonia anymore, it smells musty and stale poopish.  Hard to explain, but its hard to try to convert my friends when I have the smelly kid!

Does anyone have a laundry detergent they love? I've used Nellies, Seventh, Rockin' green (not sure if thats the right name) and that one by etsy seller- I think its crunchy clean.  I also spray the poopy diapers with Bac Out, and have done the baking soda/vinegar wash.

I have hard water and front loader.

Re: Diaper stink Hell!

  • ammonia smell would be detergent build up

poopy smell would be not enough detergent.

I have extremely hard detergent.  I have to use a ridiculous amount of detergent to get them to not smell.  I am going to get some calgon to use when I wash them (it's a water softener) that has been recommend to me on this board.

  • i stopped using the microfiber inserts.  solved my problems!
  • Not the most EF option, but regular ol' powder Tide.

Got rid of all my stink.  I can still use my mf inserts.  Now I alternate detergents - mostly Planet, and Tide powder every now and then.
