  • According to the weekly updates I get via email, I am pretty sure my email at 16 weeks talked about this. I remember being 16 weeks around Christmas and mentioning to DH that some of the first songs LO would hear would be Christmas carols!

  • Around 18 weeks according what my H has found.  He's a sound engineer and can't wait to strap headphones to my belly.

  • I believe my Mayo Clinic book said it was during the last month of the second trimester, but that even then they don't hear much and it's definitely not clear. (Given the amniotic fluid and so forth)

  • I also saw mixed dates, but did hear 25 weeks to be when they can recognize the mothers voice.  Remember, it will sound way different given that babe is living in water and also doesn't understand english.  It's all about tone and volume at this point.
  • The info from "What to Expect..." says at 16 weeks they can hear things and be startled by loud noises
  • I first got the impression she could hear and recognize voice was around 18 weeks. She had been quiet for awhile and then DH walked in from work. The second he said something she started moving like crazy.
