Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

anyone use a Hotsling?

They're on sale right now and I was thinking about getting one.  DD is already 13 months and 23 pounds, but I want something to help me hold her on my hip for longer periods of time.  Any thoughts or opinions?  They have sized and adjustable and I'm not sure which would be better...

  • It is fine for NB but kills your shoulders one they are past 10 pounds. get a MobyD.

  • Yeah, I have a Moby D but was hoping to get something a little easier and with less fabric...  That stinks.
  • I have one that I got when DS was about 8.5 months old.  I used it until my belly (and boobs) started getting too big, so it doesn't fit just right anymore.  I have a Moby, too, that I used from NB until about 6.5-7 months.  I like both.  :)

  • It's okay, but I don't have anything to compare it to. I use it in the airport and I used it at Disney while I was waiting in line with him. I was wearing it correctly, but it did put some strain on my shoulder.
  • Not worth it - I stopped carrying DD in a Hotsling at 6 months.  At that point, I wore her only in theBjorn.  Around the 1 year, we switched to the Ergo.  You may want to consider that.  I love mine.
  • I loved my hotsling until DD hit about 20 pounds. After that, she was too wiggly and it started getting hard on my back.

I'll use it again with the next baby -- it's so easy to get in and out of and very comfy. But I wouldn't recommend it for a baby that size, personally.

I got a beco for Christmas and it's awesome for DD at 26 pounds, even with me at 31 weeks. Way pricier than a sling, unfortunately!

  • I have a non-adjustable Hotsling and never could get the hang of it.  Ian would put up a fight going in, but he was fine with the ring sling.  I don't do either now that he is also 23lbs; it's too much strain on my neck/shoulders/back and he seems happier in the stroller.
