2nd Trimester

Anyone else suffering from headaches?

I get this painful throbbing in my left temple and it hurts like hell. I asked my OB about it and she said, "Oh yes. 2nd trimester headaches." like it was normal--which was a relief. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced them yet.

  • I get them all the time. So frustrating! I'm leary to take anything for them so generally I wait until I get home and go straight to bed. By the time I wake up they're usually cured.

  • Yup!  Had a headache that started Saturday night, and only subsided with Tylenol at about 1pm yesterday!  I try water first, then food, then caffeine, then a nap and/or cold cloth, then Tylenol.

  • Yep. I get maybe one headache a year normally and I had been getting them every night a week or two ago. I haven't had one for a few days, cross your fingers. But I'm with ya!

  • Me! Me! The came as soon as I hit the 2nd tri. Thankfully they arent every day like they were, but they are a pain. :-( I have found sometimes that a little bit of caffiene helps too.

The first night I got one, I forced myself back to sleep without taking any meds. When I told my doctor that, she said that it's completely safe to take up to 1000mg of Tylenol. She said when I suffer, it hurts the baby, and I should take something for the pain.

  • ME!!!  I've had them since about 6 weeks so its very annoying.  Just talked to my dr. about it yesterday and she suggested I go to a neurologist just to make sure everything is ok because I don't normally get headaches.  I get one almost every day and wake up with a pounding one in the middle of the night.

I do have prescription meds that are basically caffeine and a little bit of safe pain reliever.  I only take those if its too horrible to bear (like this morning).

  • I have a history of migranes, and have had severe issues since getting PG.  I talked to my midwife about it and she suggest 400mg of Magnesium. It's a natural mineral we're supposed to have and sometimes if you're low it can cause severe headaches.

I'm not saying regular headaches would be helped by this- but if you're having severe issues, talk to your doc/mw and see if they think it would help!
