Postpartum Depression

Newbie---sort of

Hi there,

I was on the bump a lot when pg with DD but after she was born it just wasn't a priority.

I've had a history of depression pre pg. Pg felt great though a little down towards the end. Day 3 post partum started to get bad and continued for about 6 weeks. Went on Lexipro but then switched to Zoloft and therapy.

Thankfully I recognized the signs of depression and I was soooooo out of my norm that everyone around me noticed. I would call my Dr office and just cry to him on the phone. I even tried to logic with him on the "save abandonded babies" program was flawed because you only have 72 hours to drop a newborn off and you are in the hospital the whole time. So what was I supposed to do- call 911 and tell them to pick up "the newborn"

For the first few weeks I rarely held DD, had no nurturing or any feelings for her. Even called DH at work and told him I want a divorce and give him full custody of DD bc I was going to move to New York.

I am a testament that it truly does get better and getting help WORKS!!!
