New to BOTB! Intro and a ?

Hi Ladies!!!!

I am happy/nervous/giddy to even have a reason to be near this board!!!  DH and I have been married a lil over a year a half!!  He is currently training to be a pilot for the Air Force.

We have recently begun talking about TTC once he graduates from pilot training (July1).  My reason for stopping by now is bc I have my annual gyno appt this Thursday and wondered if I should mention this to her/ask any questions.  If so, what?

Thanks for any/all advice! =)

  • You could mention it.  I am guessing what he/she will say is to start taking your pnv, good luck, and to check in after a year without getting pregnant.  At least they would be aware if any issues came up?

    GL.

Not sure what direction we are headed. Either way, I am up for the ride.

  • Just mention that you're going to start TTC and see what she/he has to say.  If you don't have any previous health problems, there probably won't be much.

I would recommend buying "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" and signing up at www.fertilityfriend.com

  • You might want to mention it....different doctors have different perspectives when it comes to TTC. Some want you to come in for a "pre-conception" appointment. Besides that, I can't think of anything. GL in July!
  • Welcome! The only thing I asked right before we were going to TTC was if I had any problems that would make it hard for us and how long to wait after getting off the pill to start trying. You'll get varying answers on that last one though, it just depends on your PCM. Mine did recommend I start on prenatals though. I would suggest checking out Fertilityfriend.com and the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility-it will teach you a lot. Also lurk often, I learned so much before we started trying from the everyday posts here.

  • I would just mention it and see what the doc says. Most likely s/he will recommend taking a PNV.

Unless you have any prior health issues, there really isn't much to "prepare" for.

Reading Taking Charge of your Fertility can help you learn about your body and fertile signs, charting, etc.

  • Definitely read TCOYF. It's an amazing book. Take a multivitamin (I always took chewables) and GL!
  • I saw your siggy and had a heart attack thinking it was a current pic.

I mentioned it to my Dr. at my annual exam and she just asked me if I wanted a prescription for prenatals. That was it.
