Well I have had Gizmo (our cat) for 8 years now. She's definetely a snuggle bug and loves to cuddle, especially at night. She kinda drives DH crazy because she insists on sleeping/purring/cleaning herself on him each night and he wakes up a lot because of it. Additionally, being the worrier that I am, I do worry about Gizmo wanting to snuggle with Madelyn too much and it being a problem.
Sooo....I made the purchase at BRU tonight. Got a gate with a swinging door that will block off our top floor from Giz. That includes our bedroom and Madelyn's bedroom. Not quite sure what to expect as Gizmo has been used to sleeping with me for as long as I've had her but I think that this will be for the best. I just hope she doesn't meow all night. It's hard enough to take this step already for me but to hear her be sad might break my heart....![]()
Fingers crossed for us please!!!
Re: Fingers crossed for me, DH, & Kitty! Big changes at our house!
I was thinking i was going to have to do the same thing for my kitty's once the lil guy comes. They both love to sleep, and snuggle on our bed at night. There have been nights latley that they have kept me up... so I lock the out of our room and they just scrach and meow at the door (which bugs me more) One of our kitty's will not really care about the baby, but our other one is very curious and will always want to know whtas going on.
Is gizmo a jumper? Will she be able to jump over the gate and suprise you in the middle of the night?
She's a decent jumper yes but it'll be at the top of the steps so there will be that added height as well...We will see....
Just FYI, my cat can jump over the baby gate at the top of our stairs, so we have to stack two on top of each other. It's a big PITA, but we have to block him from going up there sometimes when I bring class pets home from work.
Hopefully your kitty won't be a jumper like ours and the one gate will work fine! If not, do you think getting the cat a special bed in your room would work? Like a pet bed on the floor? GL!
We've tried that. Even the kind with the cat nip tucked inside of it to try to attract her. Didn't work...
