We bought our second car seat over the weekend and brought it home and set it in the living room. As soon as we let our dogs out, my male (Brutus) went ballistic barking at the box. My DH and I couldn't figure out why he was barking at the box. After 15 minutes of trying to calm him down we finally realized he was barking at the picture of a baby on the side of the box. If we turned the box to a side that didn't have the baby picture he was as calm as a cucumber. Now DH is afraid that he is going to bark and be scared of LO.

Certainly Brutus will know the difference between a real baby and a picture of one...right???

Can you get the carseat out and strap a doll into it to get him used to it a little?
ETA, I would also have DH bring a swaddle blanket home from the hospital with the baby's scent and put it on the doll to help him get used to the smell. I've heard good things about the actual meeting of the baby being outside or in the car as opposed to in the house where it is currently the dog's territory.

This is a good idea about the car seat and doll. I also plan on sending DH home with a blanket with the babies scent on it.
