I had mine this weekend, and it was very sweet. It was mostly for women at my church, but I invited a few co-workers as well as family... Odd to see three worlds collide
but fun for friends to meet each other for the first time.
We got a bunch of stuff off of our registry, but still need to get the car seat, stroller frame, and some other odds and ends (mostly for the crib, like sheets and such). I also need to get tubing for the breast pump a friend gave me--I have no clue about this thing, so I'm going to have to go to Bosom Buddies and figure it out!
What kinds of things did you have to go back and buy after your shower? About how much did you need to spend?
Re: what did you buy after your shower?
The only thing I really needed to buy was an additional car seat and bottle warmer. Luckily we got some gift cards and those covered those few items left that we needed. For the post part though we had already biught our big items ourselves and our showers were mostly just fun additional things. We did get our swing though which was a nice surprise.
All in all we probably spent an additional $100.00 or so.
We got almost everything big during the shower, with the exception of our monitor. We then bought/are in the process of buying all of the things people thought weren't "fun": changing pad and covers, extra sheets, etc. I'm trying to leave the few "fun" things (like the stroller blanket) on there for the folks who will buy gifts after the little guy arrives.
I've probably spent $200 on registry items since the shower.
Well, we bought the crib, travel system, dresser, rocker, and pack n play before the shower, so we could spread out those costs.
We didn't get a lot off our registry at the shower, so we have bought some since and still have some to go.
After the shower we bought his activity center (not necessary to have this now, but it was $20 off), extra crib sheets, an end table, and a couple of mattress pads.-- so far about $150.
Once the registry completion coupons come, we'll by a changing pad, some diapers, etc. , the monitor, a few different bottles to try, and a few smaller things I am sure I am forgetting.
My insurance pays for a breast pump, so thankfully that is taken care of.

We bought our swing, a second base for the car seat to put in DH's car, and a handful of smaller things like a thermometer, waterproof mattress pads, extra changing pad cover, diaper rash ointment, etc. Because of registry issues at both Target and BRU, after my showers we ended up with doubles of some stuff. So after returns and gift cards, we probably spent around $125 for the remaining items on our registry.
Now that I'm so close though, I've been spending more to get some last minute things that we need to finish the nursery (curtains) and I'm getting kind of nervous that I don't have enough newborn clothes, so I'm going to get a couple more sleepers.
