Question about baby shower games

Hi ladies! So my baby shower is this Saturday and so far we are expecting between 70-80 people(my boyfriend has a very BIG family) And all of my boyfriend's aunts and cousins cannot find sitters for their kids so they are bringing them to the shower. I did want my shower to be kid free because I know the kids will be bored and I will not be the one entertaining them. Well now my hostess, who is a very dear friend, is telling me we should not do games because she feels it will be too chaotic with all the people who are attending, plus their kids. The only ones she said we should do are the diaper raffle, the one where they measure my belly, and the pacifier necklace(the one where you can't cross your arms or legs). I kind of wanted to do a few more games besides those because I know people go to showers expecting fun games and I don't want them to think it was a lame baby shower lol

Does anyone have any suggestions for fun baby shower games for big crowds that do not require a lot of organization? any help with be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! Smile

Re: Question about baby shower games

  • We played a baby version of Taboo at mine and it was big hit. You can group your guest up to make it easier to get all involved without to much drama.

  • I am not a fan of games really but there is always bingo.

  • I would love to go to a shower where no one made me play any games. I think lots of adults would rather eat and visit. IMO...

  • What about present bingo? That you you can play a game and still keep the ball rolling on the shower. With so many people coming it could take a long time to do games with everybody, eat cake, and open presents. Also this is a game some of the older kids can get in on too!
  • we're having kids at our shower too.. and i really dont mind it.. to prevent the boredom that may arise for them, we decided to get a jumper thing.. lol.. thats why this shower will seem more like a party, rather than shower.. also, if you want more games, i say do it.. its your shower... we are having 5 games... my sister is in charge of that.. and they ALL sound tons of fun.. Stick out tongue

  • Great! thanks for your input ladies. I think I'll leave the 3 games I have and just add more, maybe the bingo one would be fun.

  • My favorite shower game is the Characteristics game.  A list of characteristics LO could have and what Mommy and Daddy would like them to be is made beforehand.  A blank form is printed out for all the guests with the attributes and people guess what you and your BF chose.  You can give them the full length of the shower and go over the sheet at the end or whenever you or you host are ready to.

Here's a link to an example:

Coming in with a random comment. Thank you for posting this!! I insisted that no games are played at any of my showers, for this very reason. My friend thinks I'm crazy & can't figure out what people will do if we don't play any games. We didn't play any games at my sisters shower & we all survived. Just glad to see that someone else shares my same thoughts:)

  • It sounds like a variation of the necklace game, but with DH's family they always play the don't say the b- word game.  B is Baby and every time someone says it they lose their clothespin.  Whoever has the most at the end wins, it's pretty entertaining to see all of his aunts and uncles trying to get each other to say the word.
  • Personally, I go to baby showers hoping beyond hope that there won't be games. I say with that many people you either forget about the games (except the ones you listed which are good for larger groups) or you set the games up as stations so it's more manageable.

One thing that was done at my shower which was super fun is everyone decorated onsies. We had stencils, fabric markers, and white onsies of different sizes (the gerber kind you can buy in a pack). Then everyone went to town decorating them. I love them. That's something that can be done with any number of people.
