TMI Co-worker vent

One of my coworkers has the most disgusting "habit" ever. All day long he hocks up loogies and spits them into a cup he keeps under his desk. Not only is the sound extremely grating, but obviously the whole thing is pretty nauseating. I sit a row of cubes behind him, and everyone around him is like, his friends that are guys so they're gonna say anything. I really want to just be like, that's disgusting and unsanitary, please stop. Sounds easy peasy, except this guy is also a super angry dbag. And I'd bet dollars to donuts no matter how nice I ask he'll just keep doing it and complain loudly how I need to mind my own business or something. So then I think maybe I should say something to the supervisor, but she sits so close to him there's no way she doesn't already know... and I don't want to be bratty about it. So I don't know what to do. But I'm afraid if it doesn't stop soon I'm just gonna end up screaming across the cubes in disgust and frustration. Seriously, it's so nasty.

Re: TMI Co-worker vent

  • That is so gross... I would say something to someone... That makes me want to gag just thinking about it.

  • Leave him a note. Nothing nasty, just something like what you said. That is seriously disgusting and sickening. If I were there and had to hear it, I'd be puking in my cube. Maybe you could puke in your cube! See if he likes the sound of that and then maybe he'll stop!

That would seriously....seriously....make me vomit. I can't believe he does that. I'm SO sorry you have to deal with this in the workplace. Do you have the same boss? Any chance you can just go to management and tell them how much it bothers you and that you're uncomfortable approaching him about it. That's their job as supervisors to take care of this sort of thing.

    GL!!!! That's a toughie.

    Yuck.

We do have the same boss. I think I'm gonna mention it to her, and also try the note approach. I don't know how effective a note will be, but at least he'll be aware that if he's trying to be discreet he's failing.
