LO's first swimming trip LIP

So I finally got the pictures of our first swimming trip in the blog.... and yes I put my bikini on at 2 mos PP... and my boobs were practically falling out of my pre-pregnancy suit lol, but HL loved the water so if anyone's debating whether or not to take their LO swimming, GO for it! Just make sure you have a warm pool to go to.

Re: LO's first swimming trip LIP

  • that is so cute!  I can't wait to take my LO to the pool.  He loves his baths!  So hears hoping he likes the pool and ocean :)
  • Loading the player...
  • Thats awesome! I can't wait to take DD swimming (minus me in the bathing suit partStick out tongue). Our local indoor pool keeps the temp at about 87-88 degrees. Do you think this is warm enough? I don't want to get her out and have her freeze or anything.
  • My best friend has a 9 month old.  We're taking the girls swimming next week! I can't wait.  You looked good in your bikini!  I have a roll and will be sporting my "mom" tankini.
  • It's okay to dunk them so young??  I would be terrified of drowning!

    He looks so precious!

  • so cute!!! I used to teach infant class too & can't wait to take him! I take him in the bathtub & he kicks away!

Blog question: what layout do you have so you can have pictures on both sides??!

Yea I think that's warm enough for them NOT to scream when you put them in but you may have a shorter trip than we did since it is a little bit cooler. You just have to test it out I guess. If the lips start getting blue it's time to go, but usually they'll start crying before then if they're cold. We stayed for about 30 minutes or so...

Not that I would do this, but there are some classes that drop the babies in the water.

I'm pretty sure Ashleigh did a gentle dunk; your hands are on the babies.  It's safe.  It's not like the kind your bf did to you in high school to flirt around.  After I wash DD in her whale tub, I fill up our tub and float her in it to rinse her really well.  I sorta dunk her.

Thanks! Yea it absolutely ok to dunk them, it seems scary for sure and I probably wouldn't have done it if I didnt teach infant classes before lol. But an infant will actually paddle when under water to get to the surface, it's an instinct, they just can't lift their head above the water. But obviously if you're holding them they'll be fine :) What you do is blow in their face and immediately scoop them under the water, when you blow in their face they hold their breath (try it they really do). Sometimes they do get a little water and will cough but they're fine afterward. And I would only recommend dunking once or twice per session and always at the END.

  • Also when dunking, if you spin in a circle while putting them under so the water goes up over their head & not in the face it will be a little more gentle on them! (I hope that makes sense!)
  • Your pics are sooo cute!  And I love that chicken Fried comes on when your blog opens!  Great song!  I'm going to bookmark your blog, it looks great!

  • Did you use a swimmy diaper?

We are going to Hawaii in a week and I bought some, but the smallest size they have starts at 16 lbs.

We may have to rig it with some duck tape. lol

Honestly we didnt (I know ur supposed to) but we didn't have any problems, the gel things didn't come out of the diaper but we were only in there for 30 minutes. I'd say go with a regular diaper and put trunks on over the top, no one will notice. But if you could rig the swim diapers to fit I'd do that (my LO was only 9 lbs at the time so there was no way!)
