My cat has an addiction

to socks!  He won't stop stealing them.  He just wanders around the house with a sock hanging out of his mouth and then he takes them to his "lair" in the basement and shoves them in between the litter box and the wall.  WTH.  I can't leave the laundry room door open or any kind of clean/dirty clothes lying around.  And I swear he can smell them.  He actually pulled everything out of Gavin's diaper bag just to get to the socks in the bottom.  And if he knows they are somewhere and he can't get to them, he just sits there and cries about it.  How come all my animals have issues?

Re: My cat has an addiction

  • lol...i guess they like to keep you on your toes.

my mom is dogsitting chili for us and she said he is obsessed with the cow pastures and is eating and rolling in the fun stuff the cows leave behind.

    YUCK!!

  • I know it must annoy the crap out of you but that is hilarious! :)
  • Maybe it is something with cats and the smell of feet. My cat will roll around in our shoes if we leave them out where he can get to them. He rubs his face all over the insides of the shoes and slobbers and purrs. It is beyond weird. LOL.
  • That is too funny!  I love it!!!!  But it would get annoying having missing sock pairs, but I'm sure it's cute to see him running around with socks in his mouth.

OMG, our other cat does this!  I didn't even think about them liking the smell of feet.  Weirdos.

  • Wow. This beats our stupid cat running through the paint tray on Saturday. Green paw prints on the carpet, on the hardwoods, on the damn toilet seat, EVERYWHERE! Tiny Tim got the first and only bath of his life on Saturday. Thank God it was only latex paint.

My husband accused me of actually caring about the cat because I was worried about him ingesting paint by licking himself. :)

I'm with this one...our cats do this too.

  • That makes me laugh thinking about your cat walking around with a sock!

My parent's cat used to do the thing with the shoes as well.  I remember she would actually sleep with her paws in our shoes (if they were laying around).  I always thought it had something with the leather.
