hormones- greasy hair

So not to brag but I have fairly long hair that is usually gorgeous lol But ever since I got pregnant my roots are so oily! Thank goodness I have wavy hair and it looks decent with moose but when I dry and straighten it, it still doesn't even look like I have showered. I hate it! lol My hair is one of the things I am picky about and it upsets me....same with my face too...usually dry and now I can wipe grease off. so gross. Anyone having anything similar?

Re: hormones- greasy hair

  • I haven't noticed my hair being greasy, but I am breaking out a ton lately.  I have always had really clear skin and never really got many zits, even as a teenage.

Right now I have about 4 and it's driving me crazy.

It's one of the things that will set me off sometimes.  I will get really moody because suddenly my skin is so bad and I'm tired all the time and I feel gross.  My poor husband having to deal with me...

  • yup!  Me too.  Normally I shower every other day because my hair and skin are fairly dry and still look good after a day. But in the last week or so I've had to change to daily showers to control the oil.  Yuck.  I've never had oily skin like this before (not even in my teens) so I'm not prepared to handle it!

  • That happened to me around week 7- it looked like I hadn't washed my hair for a week. It only looked like that for a week though and then went back to normal.

  • The hair, no. The adolescent acne breakouts YES!
  • I'm considering skipping the conditioner to try and let my hair dry out some, even though I know it is going to hurt to brush! =(
  • I'm convinced it's the DHA (non-fish sourced fish oil, basically) in my prenatals!  EWW.
  • I kind of have this issue, too. I don't use conditioner on my roots - just the middle part and ends. That seems to help. Also, prior to getting pregnant, I had an oily situation for a period of time - I'm still not sure why. At the time, my hair person hypothesized that I was washing my hair too much (I'm a runner and was washing my hair after long runs and also washing first thing in the morning. He said that it overstimulates the oil glands, or something like that.
  • my hair's not greasy.... it's my face! ugh... trade ya!!! ha
  • This is just now starting to happen with me... I normally can get away with only washing my hair every other day. Now all of the sudden it always looks a little greasy and it seems to be a kind of coarse. I have pretty fine hair normally...

It's annoying the hell out of me.

  • I've been adding a bit o baking soda to the shampoo to help w/ this, barely using conditioner, and using 'dry shampoo' type cornstarch-y-crap throughout the day.

    It isn't helping :-(

  • My long blonde hair has always been one of my best features until I got pregnant with Emerson.  I still have my hair past my shoulders but, often think about why women cut their hair after having a baby-because it changes and isn't as pretty as prior to becoming pregnant!
