this awful thought just cross my mind.... can the babies get tangled up with their umbilical cord in utero? i've heard of umbilical cords wrapped around babies necks right when they are getting delivered, but can it happen in the womb?

Re: umbilical cord
Yes, it is possible. It happens often and it's usually fine.
But last week, a mom in my local MOTC went to her OB at 36w5d. They couldn't find heartbeats, did an emergency C-section and both girls had strangled in their umbilical cords.
I'm not trying to scare you; like I said, it happens often and most of the time it's fine. (And some think cord strangling might be overdiagnosed if cause of death is unknown and they happened to have the cords around their neck.) I'm really glad I rented a Doppler during pregnancy for peace of mind.
Steal my kids picture or pretend they are yours, I will find where you live and ship all of their dirty diapers to your doorstep. Promise.
