Anyone not planning on using bumpers?

In searching for some bedding ideas to match the crib we are getting, I came across so many sites talking about just using breathable bumpers instead to help prevent sids.  Anyone just going to use breathable bumpers and a nice fitted sheet and crib skirt?

Re: Anyone not planning on using bumpers?

  • Yup.  That's my plan.  Target has a nice white breathable bumper and it's cheap too.  I figure I have the rest of the room to accessorize.

  • thanks, I am going to take a look at Target to see what it looks like!
  • I'm going to put the bumper in the crib to take pictures of the nursery, but when DS starts sleeping in there, I'm going to replace it with a breathable bumper. I may put the regular bumper back in once he's older and can easily turn his head away from it. We'll see.

  • No bumpers here, just a fitted sheet and crib skirt.

  • I'm using breathables.  I bought the crib sheet, ruffle, and matching changing table cover to replace the missing bumper.

yep this.  BRU has a breathable bumper too.

  • I am planning on just buying plain fitted sheets, and making my own bed skirt and matching curtains instead.  This way it's cheaper and I can have something I love instead of just settling on some prepackaged set at the store.  I haven't found anything yet that I just have to have.

  • No bumpers for us.  In addition to the SIDS risk, I found them totally unnecessary with my son.
  • Just a breathable bumper, sheet, and cribskirt.  I might even take out the breathable one.

  • No bumpers for us either. Really, what's the point besides an accessory?
  • We're using the white breathable bumper from Target, fitted sheets, and my mom is making a bed skirt from fabric I found.
  • I am using a regular bumper.  I am using it to block the draft (which is what they are designed for).

  • No regular bumper for us, maybe a breathable one if found necessary.

  • BRU and BBB also carry the breathable bumpers.  I found them a few bucks cheaper on Amazon.  I have custom bedding that is being made, bumper included.  We are thinking of using the breathable bumper when LO is in her crib.  And then adding her regular bumper when she is older, 6+ months or so.  I also have a friend who sticks the reg bumper in when company drops by...for the look.  We will probably do that as well.

    This.

  • No bumper here, also I am still debating on the dust ruffle, right now all he has is a fitted crib sheet and the blankie grandma made for him, just for show right now. When he is ready for his "big boy bed" (toddler) I may purchase a full set of bedding for him then.
  • I won't be using a bumper OR a breathable bumper. They are ugly and useless.
