What diapers are you buying before the birth?

I bought a small package of the pampers swaddlers size NB (the ones with the cord cutout). I don't want to buy too many before she arrives, just in case she's bigger or chubbier than we expect.

When ds was born, the size 1s were just too big. We had to run out and buy the NB size, so I'm starting with the smallest, but I don't want to get stuck with too many.

What are you doing?

We bought 2 boxes of size 1 Pampers Swaddlers b/c we had a coupon. If we don't get any NB sizes at our showers, then I'll pick up a box of them too just to be safe.

We have 1 big box of Pampers Swaddlers Sensitive newborn diapers and a few small packs of size 1 so far...

The swaddlers were pretty much the only type of diaper I got from my shower. So that's what I went out and bought. I have, I think, 2 boxes of NB size for now. (Plus, I was told you can get a lot of diapers from the hospital b.c once they open a bag/box they have to throw them out if unused). She seems to be a pretty big baby so I held off on buying too much NB stuff. Just the few diapers and maybe 4-5 outfits for now. I bought the next size up swaddlers whenever I had a coupon or found a sale and put them in the attic for now. I'm going for what I think will be my last u/s on Friday and I'll see how big she is then. I'll be 36 weeks so I hope to have a good idea of what size she'll be at birth.

None. My hospital will send me home with tons! I didn't use diapers I bought myself until DD was about three weeks old, and by that time she was in size 1.

I have only purchased one box of 1-2's. We received three packs of newborn diapers as gifts, plus several other packs of other sizes. I was read you can't really overstock because you don't know.

I figure if worse comes to worse www.diapers.com ships & delivers within 24 hours if we get desperate for more.

so far I only have 1 package of the papmpers swaddlers NB size and then 1 package of the size one. Last night I opened the NB package to put the diapers in the diaper holder that we have and the look on my husband face was priceless..."but they are so small are you sure they will fit?" he said.. well duh they are small!! I'm not giving birth to a toddler honey! (at least I hope not!)

Instead of stocking up on diapers, I'm stocking up on gift cards for Walmart, Target and the grocery store (including AmEx gift cards). Every time I go grocery shopping I buy one for $25. That way when the boys arrive, I can send a family member to grab whatever size they need (not to mention any other items I need at the store without me needing to go to an ATM!).

I'll probably buy a couple packs of Pampers and Huggies in newborn sizing just to have on hand, but I'm keeping the receipts taped to them! It's a hard thing to buy ahead I think.

I've been stocking up on GCs, too. I do have 80 size 1 Pampers diapers from my shower diaper cake.

On the advice of my sister - who has had four boys in the last 7 years, I am buying one pack of NB size (40 diapers) and then a box of size 1. She said she rarely needed more than one pack of NB - and then it was only a few. If we look like we need more then I will send DH out.
