I'm very pissed at the midwife right now.

My OB was out yesterday to deliver not one, but 3 babies. Understandable, so I had to talk with the midwife. She messed up my chart so I had to explain to her 15 times I got antibiotics last Wed and ran out Sun. She did nothing. I'm still hurting like crazy and drinking cranberry juice like it's going out of style. She told me not to go to the ER unless I have a fever but they'd send my chart there if I did need to go. So unless I get a fever looks like I'm dealing with the pain from one "whomping horrible" (as the midwife explained it) bladder and kidney infection. She's really on my sh*t list right now and I want to talk to my OB. Sorry I needed a good rant.

    Um, I just got back from the er on Thursday.  I had a kidney/bladder infection and the pain was the worst I have ever felt in my life. 

    They kept me overnight in L & D for observation after they gave me IV antibiotics.  I did not have a fever.   If you are in pain, don't wait for the OB. 

    I know what you're going through- it hurts like hell.  You know your body best.

    That stinks, I get UTI's so bad I bleed and sitting on the toilet is the only comfy position. I've read that pregnant woman are more susceptible to them and pray that I don't get one.

    They're awful! I hope you get some ref lief soon!

    I'm sorry you're having to deal with all this while you're pregnant.  Bladder infections are NO fun... no fun at all.

    Hopefully you'll feel better soon & get to talk to your OB.

    yeah I agree, you need to just go to the ER and not wait for a fever. She's an idiot.

    That's extremely odd.  Any chance you'd get someone else if you called back?  I wonder if maybe they haven't got the results of the culture back and want to wait and give you something they know will work.  Either way UTIs suck :(

    If you have already had one course of anti-biotic's and still no relief you need the "big guns". Go to the ER get an IV of anti-biotic's. That midwife is an idiot. I'd like to drop kick her for you.

    Eat some fresh pineapple and drink 8 ounces of water every hour, I have a problem with the cranberry juice... for me it does more harm than good because it makes it burn even worse when I pee. I don't even get antibiotics anymore I just do the pineapple and water and it works like a charm.

    ive noticed that you are a military wife.  are you seeing a miltary doc on a military base?  if so those guys are idiots!  they arent going to do jack sh!t to help you.  go to the ER, get some relief.  plus you insurance will cover it, so no worries there.

    If you still have pain that means you still have an infection. That's not something you should have to wait to deal with. It will only get worse. Screw your midwife and go to the ER.

    I would at least try to call your OB or go to the ER.  If you are still in pain the meds did not cut it and bladder infections are miserable.  I got a bladder infection over the summer and was able to call my primary and get a prescription without going in.  Usually we know what these are and can diagnose ourselves and dr. know this.  Call at the very least.
