I was told that we shouldn't dye our hair while pregnant. I usually get a full color and highlights, otherwise I am very grey. Any suggestions for non toxic hair color?
I don't know if you have a whole foods around you but they have a vegetable oil hair color you can buy. My Dr. has told me it is safe to get highlights after your first trimester (since it doesn't touch your scalp) but it is safe to get a fully dye after 20 weeks. So for me I will have major roots until then. Good luck!
I have been putting it off too, but next week my stylist will be using "Redken shades" on my hair and it uses only 5% peroxide. It is Demi-permanent and it helps blend away greys. I think it is just a personal decision. Here is an article I found on the Motherrisk website about haircolor.
I, too, am quite grey, and did dye my hair for DS. But my now my hairdresser is using a different line, and I may consider waiting for a while, until 2nd tri. I always joked I would look like the surrogate grandma if I let my hair go white, it's current natural color.
BTW, I am 41, so old enough to be a surrogate grandma!

Re: Hair color
my OB said hair color is fine. it is less toxic now then it used to be. if you are concerned talk to your OB. and discuss with your hairdresser.
another way to look at it. hairdressers have babies all the time and they work with the stuff all day long, all day every day. know what i mean
