After more than 13 months of nursing, we are done. He was less interested and I was starting to have nipple sensitivity. I am sad, but I am proud of myself. I never wanted to BF, had major issues for the first 3 months, (latch issues, overactive letdown, gas etc.) I was able to make it through hellish m/s for 16 wks, and keep my supply up when it dwindled at 8 wks. here I am after 13 months. I am sad, but excited to have a few months before I start again.
It makes me more sad that DS is getting older!
Thanks for letting me vent
Re: We have officially weaned =(
What an accomplishment making it to 13 months!! Give yourself a much needed break before you start up again in June :-)
This sounds terrible, but I have been counting down the months to 1 year, which is my breastfeeding goal, now that it is just around the corner I have a feeling that I'm going to be sad! So I understand where you are coming from.
Congrats for making it to this milestone!
I felt sad when DS finally stopped too...but I am glad to have my breasts to myself for a little while :-)
My Blog
I could have written this post! I too, weaned DD at 13 months. I was about 5 months pg at the time (this was just a few weeks ago). It was so hard and I was devestated but had to do it because I was starting to get agitated every time we BF'd because DD was crawling all over me, grabbing at me, etc. and it was just too hard to keep laying her across my lap with my big belly! I also wanted to be "fresh" when DS is born and be able to BF him for a year and not get sick of it and I didn't know if I could just keep going with DD and be BFing for 2 1/2 year straight. I also had issues with DD for the first couple months of BFing.
Congrats on making it to 13 months, it's a HUGE accomplishment!

Congrats! It is a little sad. We weaned at 13 months, too. I thought the first 8 weeks of BFing were my biggest struggle, but that was before I nursed w/major nipple tenderness while pregnant. Ouch! We just got through that, and DD decided she was done. I was about 11 weeks pregnant. I'm sure my supply and maybe the flavor affected DD. But, she mostly didn't want to sit still anymore after learning how to walk.
