3rd Trimester

would/did you paint the nursery?

We're in major prep mode today, and will have a clean and empty room in about an hour. Room is cream colored, with white trim and cream carpet. It was freshly painted just before we bought the house 3.5 years ago and is in great shape. It looks fine, just not super-exciting..

Should we paint? if so, what color?

Did you paint your nursery? what did you pick for a DD?

Re: would/did you paint the nursery?

  • We painted.
We chose Benjamin Moore's Robin's Nest color - like a turquoise/teal/tiffany box blue mix.

  • We chose to paint the nursery. We chose Pretty Petal by Valspar. It is lavendar.

I originally did not want to paint the nursery. It was a nice custard yellow color and had been painted a few years before but DH said it didn't look like a nursery to him. I am happy that we ended up painting it. The new paint really makes the room look good and the color makes me feel like the room is really hers.

  • Ours was freshly painted tan when we bought the house a few months ago so we decided not to paint. We're also team green so we're doing a brown and green themed room so the walls go very well with the theme.

  • Yes, I painted a light apple green.  I pulled the color out of her bedding.

  • We didn't paint the nursery.  It's a neutral tan color.  We picked out a theme that has some tan in it so it would all match.  We're on a budget, so we figured we could skip painting now and wait until he's a little older...then when he picks out a new theme for his big boy room, we can always paint it then.
  • We painted the nursery Valspar's Woodlawn Silver Brook.

  • We painted. I am actually doing some decorative painting today! We went with Behr "Pixie Violet". I am doing violet on violet polka dots today.
  • We did a dark brown chair rail (Behr Dried Leaf) and painted the wall beneath that a sagey green (Behr Mother Nature) to match one of the blankets that came with the bedding.

A friend used the same bedding and had already color-matched the paint for her nursery.

  • I don't think I'd paint in your situation.  We're painting b/c the wall color in the nursery is awful and the walls are in very bad shape - ugly floral wallpaper border to boot.  But we're painting a very pale yellow - almost like buttercream? That way if we have a girl down the line (we're expecting 2 boys) we don't have to paint again.  Also it's neutral if we decide to sell.
  • Ours was a pink-y beige color and we are having it painted now. The color is "Filtered Sunlight" by Benjamin Moore and it is a light, warm, creamy yellow.

I wanted to do robin's egg blue because I love that color for a girl or a boy but we ended up finding this beautiful yellow flowered rug and decided against blue.

  • we're painting today and using a light beige - Pony Tail by Olympic I think.  We are planning to add white wainscoting on the bottom half.  Our bedding is multi color and we're team green so we wanted to keep it neutral.
  • We painted.  Our home is a new construction (8 months old) and the walls were a neutral beige and didn't need to be painted, but I really wanted him to have a blue room so we're painting. DH is in the process of hanging wainscoting right now.
