I really liked it and wasn't expecting to. I am not much of a sci-fi fan and don't always appreciate all the great graphics and technology in a movie. That being said, it was really interesting and the 3-d aspect was really cool. It was fairly long though so don't go if you are tired at all probably.

After two losses, third time was a charm.

We have been wanting to go, but we're trying to save $$$ right now.
We went on a Sunday afternoon and used tickets DH's mom had from where she couldn't go. I am so cheap when it comes to movies for some reason because I just feel like it is wasted money. That said, I think this is one movie that you really need to see in the theater to appreciate it. Most movies I can wait until they come out on netflix. I totally get the saving money thing though. A trip to the movies for us would usually cost $ 18 even if we bring in our own snack sin my purse!

Isn't it ridiculous?! It's $10 a ticket here, but I just realized that my dad gave us two free tickets. Maybe we'll actually get out and see it this week.
And ITA about some movies being better in the theater. We saw This Is It (Michael Jackson) awhile back and I am so glad we saw it in the theater!
After 2 rounds of IVF & 2 rounds of FET, we were blessed with identical twin girls!
I didn't know if I would be into it, but I loved it. It was great! First time we went to the movies in years. I definetly recommend it.

It is so expensive any more! I'm not a huge movie person so I have a hard time paying that much to see one..I usually just get them on Netflix. But since my cousin worked on Avatar (in art/design) I figure I should probably see it in the theater.
I didn't know much about it when I went but DH wanted to see it and I knew that it had to be something kinda special since in the 13 years I have known him we have gone to 4 movies in a theater. We saw it in IMAX 3D on Christmas and it was wonderful. I didn't even realize how long it was until we left. The story is one that is predictable but the graphics are beautiful. I agree it will lose a lot watching it at home(unless you have your own personal theater ).
Similar to what others have said, I knew nothing about the movie but DH really wanted to see it. His MIL saw it and told me I'd *love* it so I reluctantly agreed to go sit through this LONG movie with DH.
I absolutely loved it. We saw it in 3-D, but want to go back to see it in 3-D at the IMAX too. I've read up on how they made the movie (because I thought it was a cartoon, but it's not...it's CGI) and it just amazes me. I loved everything about it! (And it didn't feel like a long long long movie b/c I was so wrapped up in the story!)

Great! Thanks for the reviews ladies..maybe we'll go tomorrow. Like I said, I usually hate paying so much to see it in the theater but it seems like it that would really be the best place to see it!
We saw it a couple of weeks ago and loved it. We saw it in 3D and were actually relieved we'd decided to save a few bucks and not spring for the IMAX. It was just overwhelming with the 3D and I'm not sure how much more the imax would have been.
It's really a gorgeous movie, and we enjoyed it a whole lot.

I liked it. Good thing the production quality is fabulous, because as pp said the story is oh so predictable.
This Huffington Post article is hilarious: Avatar = Pocahontas in Space. lol.

That article is hilarious! Meepit linked to it on her FB page awhile back after she went to see it and I thought it was so funny!
OK, you guys convinced me. We'll go see it this week with our free tickets.

Haven't seen it yet, DH did and loved it. I did a clicky poll last night asking people how they liked it:
