At least a year and a half. I want to until he is 2, but I will see how long he gets. He is already crossing his legs. I don't feel comfortable turning him around at a year, for he wont be strong enough yet.
we plan on keeping him RFing until he reaches 40 lbs, the weight of our carseat. I realize this can be a long time and he may be bored, buthe won't know its an option!

I think DD was around 18 months when we turned her around. I wish we had waited longer. I hoping to keep DS rear facing to two, but definitely till at least 18 months.
Olivia was close to 2 years (could have been around 18 months, though - I can't remember exactly). With Natalie, as long as she will - I'm thinking that she won't care to see us when she'll be able to see her sister so I'm think at least 2 years. They are small girls (well, Natalie is), so there really is no reason to turn them forward facing at the minimum requirement - actually, that would have been against the law for Olivia (she was 19lbs. at 1 year).
I will definitely ask my pedi, but Benjamin is so big already, like JJG's son Grant, I cannot imagine him making it rear facing much longer than 1.5 yrs. He's a big dude. Just hope he will be safe if/when we turn him around.

We kept DD#1 rear facing until she was about 18 months. DD#2 was a screamer in the car (hated the car seat) so we turned her at a year. Going anywhere with her was miserable until we turned her around.
Until she reaches the rear-facing limits of the seat. I looked at the percentile chart for her height/weight and if she stays in the same growth curve she'll be 4 before she turns around. So be it.
We have small vehicles, so until he reaches the max on the car seat's rear facing requirements (which won't be long as they're small shells). Then we'll upgrade our car seats and put him forward facing. I'm hoping to make it to a year and a half (he's a big boy). If it wasn't for his size and the size of our cars, I'd keep him until he was 4 if I could.
Re: How long are you planning to keep LO rear facing?
Like others said, until he completely outgrows our carseat. So as long as possible.
Your son is adorable!!!
This. Or until our Pedi says it's ok.
Probably until he outgrows it, or at least very close.

Aww thanks!
18-24 months.
I think it'd be hard to keep a 4 y.o. rear facing.
