When did your newborn lose his/her hair?

Sam's hair is falling out!!  He looks like a balding old man - it's kind of funny Smile Does it seem early for him to be losing it?  I think there might be some new growth coming in, but I worry that he'll be a cue ball for a long time and he looks so cute with hair!

And by the way, he's making little cooing noises lately and it's SO CUTE! OK, had to brag ;)

  • Nolan did around a month. Lincoln may not. His is getting thicker

  • I don't think Garrison really lost hers until about 8 weeks but I'm not sure that there is such a thing as too early.  Most of them lose it at one time or another.  Unfortunately, I've got a little baldy myself and suffer from serious hair envy when I look at some of the babies on this board (psyched for baby, Gypsy Esq, yeah-- I'm talkin' to you! ; )

  • Miles was sporting the Dr. Phil look around 6-8 weeks.  I don't remember exactly when it started to fall out...but that was when it was mostly gone.  :-)

Heh Smile sorry.  DD does have a bit of thinning at the back of her head.  Where she rubs her head back and forth.  But she never really lost it.  I have a photo though of her dad at 2 weeks old -- if you can believe it he had tons more hair than her.

  • Audrey lost hers at about a month.. Oh boy and the baby acne with her was fierce!! I thought it would never get better, but it did and she is soo lovely now ;) if it makes you feel better, a friend told me that the male pattern baldness look indicates that the little one will have a thick head of hair :) Audrey and Joey both had it, and Ronnie didn't.. I'm afraid he's gonna have my icky fine hair :p

  • Sounds like Sam's pretty normal.  :)  My guy didn't ever lose all of it, but he had a very sparse phase...for him, at least.  I think he was thinnest at around 3 months.  Everyone commented on how much hair he had all along, but now when I look back at the pictures I can't believe he was so bald!

Incidentally, I always assumed I'd have a baldy and kind of thought hairy babes looked silly, but since I had a kid with hair, now the bald ones seem strange to me!  ;)

  • Lyla lost her's around 3-4 weeks then it came back in really fast. My Sam never lost his at all
