Does anyone know if overhead shield carseats are still manufactured? OR When they stopped (like how many years ago?)
This kind:

It's the kind I used with my DD 12 years ago... I had Jack 7 years after that and don't recall seeing them when we were shopping for seats for him... so that makes me think they've been gone for a good long while.
I was just curious because I saw a young woman putting a fairly small baby (maybe 4 or 5 months) into one at Target the other day... it seemed so strange.. I haven't seen one of those in ages..
I guess if it's between an old one like that or nothing.. the old one is better but it made me think if they don't make them anymore it must because they're not all that safe...
Re: random... old carseats
I haven't seen one like that in a long time either. My little brother, who is now 16, used to have one like that. My niece, who is 9, also had one like that.
I wonder what's not safe about them? Most now have the 5-point harness. Maybe the old ones didn't meet safety standards or something?
That would be weird to see someone using one today, especially a little 4 or 5 month old!
Found one for sale at Walmart

An article I read said that a few are still manufactured and they meet the minimum safety standards (althoug I am sure many of the older models don't) but 5 point harness is thought to be much better. Interesting - as I forgot these things ever existed!
Edit: It has a price but I actually says it's not available at this time....hmm. Doesn't look like a good option for baby, LOL.
