Recommend your Play and Pack

If you have purchased a play and pack in the past year and used it as a bassinet for a newborn could you please provide your recommendations?  and why?  (I?m concerned about uneven bassinet beds inside the PNP which causes newborns to roll and the quality and your personal use of the attached changing table).

Re: Recommend your Play and Pack

  • No complaints about our Graco PNP.  We definitely got our monies worth out of that thing!

  • We've got a Graco PNP that we use when we travel.  However, when LO was brand new, we used an Arm's Reach full-sized co-sleeper.  It was AWESOME.  You can use it as a co-sleeper (next to the bed with the side nearest the bed lowered down), as a bassinet (with all sides up), converted to a changing table, and even later as a regular PNP.  It also fits standard PNP sheets.  The reason that I like it so much better than the Graco is because it is MUCH more sturdy when using it as a bassinet.  Our Graco bassinet feature sort of swings when LO moved around at all.  The Arms Reach doesn't.  Very safe and sturdy.  It's a little harder to travel with though, as it doesn't fold up/down quite as quickly as the Graco.

  • We used PNPs for six months maybe in the living room.  MIL used one constantly.  It made life so much easier.

  • We had the Graco Deco PNP and loved it. We have a 2 story house so we kept it with the bassinet and changing table in our living room until he was 12wks. We used the changing table a lot and he napped in the bassinet. I never felt he was unsafe in it. We still use the PNP for traveling.

  • I use a Graco PNP with the Newborn napper pulled up right next to my bed. I currently use the bassinet level for storing all the things I need during the night. I do not get out of bed at all during the night.I use a diaper caddy and changing pad on the bed and do not use the changer on the PNP (because I have a mesh tent over my PNP and the changer will not fit).

It has a little vibration thing which she really seems to like.

  • We used the Graco Deco pack and play downstairs and a Fischer Price bassinet upstairs for the first few months.  I also used Graco PnPs at other peoples houses and did notice a big difference in the bassinet feature of the cheaper ones.  They didn't seem to have a sturdy base (not sure why).  I would just look at each on in the store and see what you think.  I loved the changing table part because we had it downstairs.  If we just had it in our bedroom, we wouldn't have needed it at all.
  • We got the Chicco Lullaby play yard and LOVE it.

The bassinet floor is the same as the lower portion - very sturdy but nicely quilted and comfortable.  We have zero complaints about it - it was the best one we found.

FWIW, we never use the changing table attachment.  We just change her by throwing a travel pad on the bassinet.

  • Txs for the input ladies...  I'm on the fence between the Chicco Lullaby and Graco PNP.

  • We used an Arms Reach Co-Sleeper as a bassinet. Highly recommend it. We liked it becasue it had a higher weight limit than most PnP's, and we were able to use it unitl she was 6 months old (didn't want to move her to the crib yet).

It's heavy and harder to assemble than most PnP's so we couldn't really pack it, lol. I bought a cheap used Graco PnP for travel and play dates.
