Babies: 3 - 6 Months

freezing BM

i have a question for the ladies that have 9874954798549 oz in their freezer.

okay, BM changes with your baby's nutrition need, right?  so if you have all this milk in the freezer that you pumped 2-3 months ago, doesn't it have the nutritional needs for your baby 2-3 months ago?

what do you do with all that milk, besides mix it with cereal or purees?

Re: freezing BM

  • I know a lot of people rotate milk.  They'll use fresh and frozen.  That's what I'm starting to do.

This. I give DD frozen milk when we are home (if she doesn't nurse) and send fresh milk to daycare. IMO, it doesn't matter when they get the nutritional content that's in the milk. It just matters to me that she gets it. She takes the frozen milk just fine and it is just as filling for her.
  • I asked my pedi about this and he said that milk doesn't change that much.  As long as it is used within the acceptable frozen time frame it's fine to use.
  • this all makes much more sense than what i was coming up with.
