C-Section Infection....

Just wondering if any of you ladies who have had a c-section, ever had an infection in the incision?  What did your OB do for you?  Did it easily clear up?  I had my c-section 5 weeks ago and everything healed up really nice. I went to the doctor on MOnday and he checked me out and everything was fine. Then on Tuesday I noticed that I had a small hard lump which I thought was just healing scar tissue. Then yesterday I noticed it starting to get a little red. I thought it was just because of my sweat pants rubbing up against it. I figured I would wait till today to see how it was. It was slightly less red today and didn't really hurt anymore but I noticed there was some puss under the skin. It looks like a hair follicle may have gotten clogged and gotten infected. When I went to clean it, of course it broke and all this puss then clear liquid came out and the little lump was gone. I cleaned it up with some alcohol and then peroxide, I put some neosporin on it and covered it with a bandage.  I am going to call my OB but the reason why I figured I would ask you guys first if this has happened to anyone is because I REALLY don't want to end up back in the hospital because of this. I'd rather wait to call tomorrow and go into the office rather than him tell me to go to the ER. TIA ladies.

    It just sounds like an infected ingrown hair.  I had one with my first c/s and they had me come in and they looked at it and said to put neosporin on it.  It was no big deal.

    It may just be a subcutaneous suture being rejected by your body if the knot was a little larger than the rest, etc.  Keep clean, no big deal.

    I ended up with an infected hematoma.  It was a hard lump about the size of a zippo lighter (?? I can't think of anything else around that size LOL).  My doctor had me drain it (my incision was still open) with warm compresses 3x daily.

    thanks so much ladies. m going crazy here afraid to call my OB thinking he's gonna send me back to the ER. I totally cannot afford another hospital bill. im gonna keep cleaning it tonight and ill call him tomorrow.
