Infertility

new here

Hi everyone...I'm not new to the bump, mostly spent time on TTCAL, but took a long break to clear my mind for a bit.

Here's a quick intro on me: I'm 32 (going to be 33 next month) and have been TTC since June 08. I've had 2 m/cs and just found out today that I may have DOR: Diminished Ovarian Reserve. I had an MIS test and the levels came back very low.

Waiting for a call back from my doctor, but of course google is only telling me that I will have to use donor eggs if I want a baby. Does anyone have any more insight onto the possibilities of having a successful pregnancy with a low ovarian reserve?

Thanks so much for your help. As I'm sure everyone understands, I'm a complete wreck right now.

  • Hi!  I also have DOR, or a high FSH.  I am doing my first IVF right now using my own eggs.  I was given a 25-50% chance of success.  We shall see.  I am 37 and my RE was optimistic since age is on my side (I guess at least I am not 45???).

If this IVF isn't successful, we may consider donor eggs or adoption.  It just depends on how things go this cycle and whether or not I can produce quality eggs.

    Welcome and good luck!

  • I have DOR and I am 29. I am so sorry that you are going through this but STAY OFF Google :) It will make you crazy! Like it did to me. I would love to chat if you have any ?'s that I could help with.

The ladies here are great and offer so much help! What does your RE say? Did you have an FSH level done?

BTW, there are a lot of options with meds these days to help stimulate more follicles to grow. You have age on your side.

  • Welcome to the board - sorry you have to be here!  I also have DOR, and I know how devastating it can be to get this diagnosis and then read up on it on the internet. It is definitely depressing, but there is hope!

For us, the decision whether to use my own eggs or donor eggs was based mostly on just *how* bad my eggs really were.  Have you had all of the tests done? (FSH, AMH, antral follicle count).  I think taking those results as well as your age into account would allow your RE to steer you in the right direction as far as chances at success, etc.

My numbers were all borderline (FSH = 9, AMH = 1.2, AFC = 11), and I'm 32, so we decided to try IVF with my own eggs.  Our first cycle was a BFN, but we are doing one more cycle with a more aggressive protocol.  If this one doesn't work, we will be moving on to donor eggs.

I truly wish you the best, and we are here for you!
